Cindy Crawford as a Red Sonja type character in a Japanese advert? Yes, obviously Red Sonja was an inspiration, it's a real shame they didn't cast Cindy as the lead in the movie instead of Brigitte Nielsen.
She certainly wouldn't act worse than her, and just imagine what a box office success Cindy in the chain-mail bikini would bring. Except that, she would set the standard for how Red Sonja should look like in the movie, so these days it would be much more difficult for directors and producers
to sell to the audience actresses who look completely different from that.
But who knows, maybe such a thing would be impossible because Cindy would ask too much money for a kiss with Schwarzenegger.

Looks like she is wearing some sort of body suit in that ad.
You kind of notice the stretch in the crotch section when she is performing her katas.

What are the odds of this NOT getting wide theatrical distribution? With such a fairly no name cast.... I'd say pretty good.
Seems this is destined for one of the streaming services.

If Jennifer Lopez ends up doing streaming films, I’d say pretty high as well. There’s just not going to be enough interest from theater owners these days for something like this. |

That Achilles vs Hector fight was a classic. Shad Brooks of Shadiversity did a great breakdown of it on his youtube channel and whilst there were a few unusual choices made in terms of the technical aspects of the fight it was well rationalised by the personalities at play, making for a fantastic character driven sequence.

RED SONJA ditches origin story and is about environmentalism? How could this work? He certainly puts the best spin on it. I thought the 45 second ‘Make Numenor Great Again’ segment in that one episode of Rings of Power was a thrown bone in an episode full of Judeo-Christian religious themes and imagery, so it wouldn’t be unheard of. The lack of distribution is the big issue. Even with a low budget (too low IMO) it still needs to be seen to make a profit. The origin could still work without the “grape” issue but it’d be a little boilerplate, been there done that, so maybe better to do something else. |

I was surprised by a lot of negative comments regarding the change of Sonja's origin.
As for distribution, I also don't see how they can sell a low-budget sword and sorcery movie with director who isn't well known and unattractive B-actress in the lead role to distributors in the USA.
Anyway, most fans correctly conclude that if the RS movie fails, there will be no Conan TV series.
