Failed to mention I'm using the Katana in the 'GlenwoodStock' picture above Yeah, I scrolled back and saw that. I didn't look all that close before. I guess I figured it was some sort of Explorer-type guitar. My second electric (my first was a '76 Strat) was an '83 Ibanez X-series RR550 Rocket Roll (though I usually call it an "XV"). I bought it in '89 with its original hardshell for $275. I always had good guitar bargaining skills. The RR550s are fairly rare. It's a cherryburst tiger stripe, which was fairly common for that model. Some beautiful wood. It's got a DiMarzio in the bridge and an original Ibanez neck pickup. Gold hardware with an aftermarket 1981 gold Floyd whammy (on there when I bought it). IMO, its "V" design is superior to that of Gibson. The "crotch" is rounded, which makes it easy to play sitting down and gives it a sleeker look. The basswood/maple construction gives it the weight and tone of a Les Paul. I love playing it. This pic isn't of my V, but it's quite close:

I only ever had the one V - an Epiphone Kirk Hammett look-alike (Black with white pick guard). The action on it sucked so bad I strapped it on my back, hopped on my Honda 500 and rode miles with that guitar flopping in the wind and traded it for a couple hundred bucks and a pair of combat boots. I'd still love to have one of the '68 reissue Gibson Vs, but krikey they are pricey.

The Greedies were a one-off project featuring several members of Thin Lizzy and the Sex Pistols. Some tasty guitar work from Scott Gorham. Merry Christmas!

I keep seeing memes on FB saying Lemmy died in 2016. He died a year ago today. Lemmy played guitar his whole life, not just bass. "In the Name of Tragedy" is one of the best Motorhead songs of the last 15yrs. Phil Campbell lays down some rippin' leads. RIP, Lemmy.

So glad I got to see them - it was only the one time, Oz Fest in '98 in Raleigh, NC.
They opened with my fav Motorhead song - Killed by Death.

I think I vaguely remember reading in a book or article that the guys worked together on the Proby album right before working on their own. IF Jimmy had any doubts about the band he put together, I'm guessing the sessions put them to rest.
I also love the video linked off to the side of the article: "5 Guitar riffs never to play at the guitar store...and how to play them!"

Chuck Berry has passed on. While he certainly had his personal demons, he was also the man who invented rock n' roll. Everyone from Clapton to John Lennon to Keith Richards to Jerry Lee Lewis has testified to that. He also invented/popularized guitar techniques still being used today. Requiescat in Pace, Chuck.
