If anyone's on Twitter Malmberg is asking for suggestions for writers/artists/colourists , I've suggested Truman, Giorello and Villarrubia if anybody wants to put in their threepenny worth! I'm not on twitter but if I was I'd suggest at least one 60 page graphic novel in black and white penned by Roy Thomas and drawn by Roberto de la Torre - in all it's full on Savage Sword Buscemaesque glory. Second I'd support your statement and have Tim Truman write and Tomas Giorello draw what johnnypt suggested - the Black and Red sequence either as one long run or a couple of full colour graphic novels. Both Roy and Roberto have been mentioned so I'm sure they'll be in Fredrik's mind if they're available.

Conan License To Move On From Marvel Comics
As you may remember Hun I'd been expecting something along these lines since the beginning of the year. The guest presence on the forum had dropped noticeably over the months after Jim Zub made his last post back in September 2021 and I suspected that was due to Marvel staff no longer visiting the forum. I'm certainly glad for all the collectors out there that they will be finishing up on their run of reprints. Yeah, unfortunately, the signs have been there for awhile. Hopefully, Marvel can at least continue with their Omnibus and Epic Collection editions beyond 2022.

Genuinely surprised to see Conan slip through the fingers of the Mouse. While this means an end to the current underwhelming run of Marvel, we don't yet know who will pick up the license next. And the Public Domain has horrors of its own.
I think this is gonna become a huge problem for Cabinet in the near future. I don't understand how they allowed Ablaze to create their own Belit & Valeria pastiche comics. This will encourage other publishers to give it a go. What can they do if they adapt the REH Conan yarns in the UK where they are in the Public Domain? How will their own books stand out in this mess?

Certainly be interesting to see how Malmberg comments on everything that's going on at Howard Days next month , be looking forward to seeing the videos of the panels.

Yeah, I'm not on twitter, but I did notice that tweet. I think they should find new talent in terms of writing and art.

Be nice to get something concrete on anything as it was 4 years now since all their big announcements and apart from the move back to Marvel nothing's come to pass , and that hasn't worked out how they hoped after the initial launch hype.

Yeah, it has been disappointing over the last few years. I guess we got the Red Sonja movie, but that is not really Robert E. Howard

...if this carries on any further I'll be launching my own Conan Original Graphic Novel campaign at Indiegogo and Kickstarter: Lots Of People Suddenly Have Plans For Conan The Barbarian
Over the weekend, coming out of Lake Comic Comic Art Festival in Italy, Bleeding Cool broke the news breaking out of Lake Como Comic Art Festival, that Marvel Comics would no longer have the Conan The Barbarian license for comics. As the license was reverting back to its original owners, Cabinet Entertainment, who plan to publish their own titles. But we also mentioned that the Conan stories written by Robert E Howard were in the public domain in Europe since 2006. Something it seems that some people had not known. And now do.
John Allison of Giant Days as well as Bad Machinery, By Night, Steeple and Wicked Things, tweeted "Just found out that Conan the Barbarian is out of copyright in Europe, so look forward to some very exciting projects coming soon. I don't know how I'm going to do Conan vs Giant Days but I'm sure I can work it out" adding "I've not read a lot of (any) Conan comics but I've seen the film with Arnie and there was a lot of talk of "the woman child", perhaps this could refer to Charlotte. Charlotte will repeatedly bring up his sole directing credit (a baffling remake of Christmas In Connecticut)"
Jamie McKelvie suggested "Maybe he arrives expecting actually giants he has to defeat, and his expectations are confounded, and so humour arises from the situation." John doubled down "I hope i can rely on you for a variant cover or a DJ set at the launch party (it will be on a Conan-themed boat)" to Jamie's reply "Count me in!"
Joseph S. Farrar of the Bump horror comics anthology tweeted "I can confirm that I'll be writing the new Conan comics… …because he's public domain here and nobody can stop me."
That's a fair point. Might companies publishing just for the European market resist introducing Conan The Barbarian into anything and everything? We also reported that the CEO of Cabinet Entertainment, Fredrik Malmberg had posted on Twitter "What's your dream team for a Conan comic – must list writer, colorist, artist. GO!" with some fun responses. But after we posted out article. former Bleeding Cool writer Frazer Brown replied, saying "CONAN Written and illustrated by @liamrsharp" Job done." Tom Muller added "Seconded" with Liam Sharp himself adding "One day! :-)"Link: bleedingcool.com/comics/lots-of-people-suddenly-have-plans-for-conan-the-barbarian/

I've checked out some of the work by the interested creators above. If these lot get hold of Conan you'll be praying to Crom for the return of Brian Wood

I have always had the impression that Marvel, since reacquiring Conan rights in 2019, never had interest in releasing a product with great quality but only wanted to have a big name like Conan to grab some cash. The final result really indicates that to me.

For me it is great news to know Marvel will not be doing any new Conan from now on. All they have done since 2019 is forgetable to say the least.
Their Conan omnibi, though, are in general a great product, with good quality and I'll keep buying the Savage Sword omnibi as long as they keep it running.
