I sometimes like very much Vilarrubia colors, but other times I don't. Why paint the sky with orange instead of blue??? It makes no sense because 99% of the time the sky is either blue, or white or grey. I like colors to be realistic and depict what nature is all about. Villarrubia likes to use a very wide range of tones and, being the ignorant that I am, I feel sometimes his colors are just off and does not portrait things like they should.

Sunset . . . sunrise . . . ?
Sky is often orange, reds and purples at sunset where I live. The entire sky surrounding the sun.

To me that sky color implies hot, arid, possibly at sunset... I personally think it helps establish setting a bit! But they're both beautiful in different ways...

Not sure of it's the area where you live but the sky around me is orange like every single day, especially at Sunset.

I like both, art and coloring, so far! It's just such a long wait now without any Conan comic releases.

As someone who has collected all the omnis, both Marvel and SSoC, it's cool to hear they are finishing the series, but they will obviously have a different look, right? They said they will look exactly the same, but with Titan at the top instead of Marvel. So obviously not quite perfect, but about as good as it gets! Your collection will look nicer than mine as you'll have Marvel switching to Titan, whereas mine will have Titan mixed in. Unless the originals really drop in price, anyway. Still pretty awesome though, I'll be very happy to have vol 1 of SSoC!It'll be interesting to see what Titan will be able to reprint in these volumes. I doubt the 1st volume of SSoC will include the Man-Thing, Femizons or Black Brother stories.

Does the Marvel version have them? Yeah, the Marvel editions include the stories above. When Titan reprint these volumes they will probably only include the stuff related to REH/Conan, not the other characters which I'd surmise are still owned by Marvel.

Yeah, no way Titan will be able to reprint those. Marvel should’ve done a complete Savage Tales omnibus while they had the chance but they didn’t. I don’t think they’ve finished aka-Zar yet in the Masterworks.

I agree with your insightful observation above, Marvel shoulda originally published a complete Savage Tales volume leading into the SSoC omnis.

Yeah that would have been nice, considering the absurd price that Savage Tales #1 goes for these days. The only b&w Conan mag that's missing from my collection!

Got Savage Tales 2-5 and SSOC 1-70 then scattered issues after that before selling them off a few months back. Thank God for digital!

The series will start with a Free Comic Book Day issue
Titan Comics | CONAN THE BARBARIAN This Free Comic Book Day special focuses on a young Conan, as he dreams of a life of adventures and envisions all of the future journeys that he will eventually encounter throughout his fabled career.
