Being 53 I grew up with The Savage Sword of Conan being my favorite comic. I can’t express how excited I am that they’re going back to the original black and white and book size….. I just can’t wait!!!!!

Will the book go back to the original size? Yeah, it'll be magazine size.

Not long now until the release of Titan's SSOC #1, end of next month unless that is rescheduled.

Today is the day! I'm excited to see what everyone thinks. I got my contributor copies last week and was absolutely blown away. It really does look and feel like the old mag, and I can't believe they pulled it off. All of the stories are really well done. My only gripe is that a couple of the pinups printed a little too dark, so Titan will need to do a better job of adjusting to B&W. On a personal note, I opened up to my Solomon Kane essay to find out that it was a company by an illustration by Howard friggin' Chaykin! He was one of the first artists I knew by name from his Star Wars adaptation for marvel which I read over and over as a kid until I had every panel memorized. I knew he was doing a pinup, but I didn't realize it was an SK pin up to go with my essay. My mind is blown.

I grabbed my copy during my lunch break and only had a minute to thumb through. I'm excited to give it a good, slow read this evening!
First impression - it looks muddy. I think it's partly the printing, and partly the fact that most of the art isn't well suited to newsprint. There are a lot of grays and low-contrast gradients that just didn't reproduce well. And the cover gallery in the back looks downright awful since the source is color.
This won't keep me from buying the next issue, but hopefully the art in future issues will cater to the newsprint medium and focus on high contrast art with hatching or zipatone textures instead of grays and gradients...

The art reminds me more of the 10 issues of Conan the Savage rather than SSOC because of The grays and gradients as you mentioned (Which absolutely isn't a problem!). And man these covers are something. I for one actually love it! Haven't had a chance to read the stories yet, only looking at the artwork but from what I can see, this might be the first time in a long time I'll be going to my LCS every month to get a title.

I have not been in a comic store in almost 40 years, I don't see SSOC listed on the local stores release page, is this released in the US yet? And/or any recommendations where to buy online that won't cost $20 (with shipping) per issue?

A local store in my area has it in stock (but thank you for your response).
