Thanks Hun - I watched 'em all. Lots of great points discussed there, though the highlight for me was Steve's anecdote about David Gemmell and Stan Lee. I'd read about that meeting via Stan Nichols and it was very cool to hear more about it from Steve's perspective.
Yeah, great little story about Gemmell and Stan. Gotta admit, I'm impressed by Steve Safell's knowledge of REH and liked the way he'd flick through the original Weird Tales issues when talking about the yarns. I think that last video is not on the playlist: Part 6 of 6 - ‘Conan’s Compatriots: Steve Saffel and Brian D. Anderson’ - Dave Gemmell and Stan Lee.

With them planning a year ahead with these stories, I wonder if they'll ever release print versions.

With them planning a year ahead with these stories, I wonder if they'll ever release print versions. The REH Property owners & other involved have said, IF these eBooks sell well, a Print collection is planned. But the later depends on the former. So, we'll see in time.

And maybe novelist Tim Willocks. I have no idea if he'd be interested in writing pastiche, probably not, but he's a Conan fan and certainly has both the mindset, historical knowledge and writing chops to come up with a very interesting perspective on Conan and the Hyborian Age imho.
As usual whether Fred Malmberg can attract those big names will depend on how successful the e-books will be. I for one will purchase the Conan story next week. Just thought I'd come back to this to link to a guest post at DMR Books by Jim Cornelius of Frontier Partisans. Jim explains some of the similarities between Conan's outlook and that of Tim Willock's Matthias Tannhauser:
Conan, Tannhauser & the State

I don't know if Tim would be comfortable writing the supernatural elements germane to a Conan yarn but if not a historical team up with REH's Von Kalmbach and Tim's Mattias Tannhauser would be a cool notion as well, though if he still lived at all by then Gottfried would be about as old as Count Salm was at the siege of Vienna.

Brief review of the latest Heroic Legends e-book. Shipwrecked by V. Castro. This time Belit gets to be the star.

I enjoyed Shipwrecked by V. Castro. It was a fun story about a greedy she-pirate, but I really didn't think it felt like a story about Belit.

“Shipwrecked” is ok, but it’s not about Howard’s Belit. In fact, none of the recent Belit stories have been about Howard’s Belit. The character has been recast as a generic she-pirate captain with a diverse crew. I understand why they is this. Howard’s Belit is no longer politically correct.
Edit: I’d like to amend my earlier statement. I had only read a few pages into the story. I’m further into it now. The good guys are fighting the bad guys. The story reads like it was written using Chat gpt.
Not recommended.

Maybe the optics of Belit leading a crew of prehistoric Africans wouldn't be so bad if modern depictions of the character didn't make her paler than a vampire.
