I think it will all hinge on the box office performance of Terminator 6. I firmly believe that Terminator Sega Genesis bombing was behind Universal passing on Legend of Conan. Which admittedly wasn't a completely horrible thing, since the script wasn't quite up to snuff. Probably right on all counts. Not really sure what they can get out of the T series anymore, story was done at the end of T2 and the audiences have seemed to agree. They can't really use Arnold's box office pull as a gauge, he's not going to get people into the theaters on his name alone anymore. They just have to either decide they want to do the story and get the best people involved or forget it at this point.

Arnold Schwarzenegger and the Future of Conan on film, Netflix and Amazon
Description: In conjunction with this years Arnold Sports Festival and Conan’s return to Marvel Comics, Arnold Schwarzenegger gave an update on the current status the long in gestation King Conan movie – and in the process, the blame for that not being made yet was in not so many words assigned to “some young guy” who owns the rights.
In this editorial @andreeinherjar will not only go over Schwarzenegger’s status update, but put it into context, explore who this young guy, Fredrik Malmberg, his failed Amazon Conan with Ryan Condal, and what the future might hold for Conan on film.

If using an Arnold King Conan as a framing device to get something like Condal's Conan series a greenlight someplace is needed, I'm all for it. My idea of a "widowed" Zenobia as narrator might be a little too esoteric for the audience at large (but maybe just what Jennifer would have wanted...oh well...)

Arnold's striving to kindle as much buzz as he can. Looks like it's working for him, several speculative Youtube videos are cropping up all over the place. I'am not exactly dead set against another Arnold Conan film. But would much prefer a proper adaption instead.

Interesting how this ties into yesterday's Red Sonja news...

I love Milius' "Conan the Barbarian", I watch it at least every other year. Yet I have zero interest in a "Grandpa Conan" movie that will again have nothing to do with Robert E. Howard. Such a movie will probably be an expensive bomb and do nothing at all for the future of the property. Almost 90 years after the Conan stories were written it's time for a proper adaptation.

Yeah, even if moderately successful a King Conan movie will destroy the possibility of future projects based on the work of REH on screen.

I just don't see a market for a movie the way Arnold is talking, so I'm not worried about that. There IS a market for the series, even though Amazon passed. Content providers need content and there are more and more of them out there.

Yes I feel films are out , lets see Conan 2011 crashed , Kane didn't get a US distributor, Legend of Conan was dropped by Universal , and Sonja also have not found a US distributor. Of course they're blaming the Singer debacle for the later but we seem to be getting a pattern.

Says: "Two days ago" on that interview. And the video on YouTube is from Feb 11, 2020. I believe apology was unnecessary.

Ah, OK, my fault; you're indeed guilty. 12 lashes and kneeling on hot coal then...
Seriously, no one else mentioned this news here, so, thanks!
