I should really know better when it comes to news concerning a new Conan Movie or TV series.

A new theatrical Conan film? Not. A. Chance. Arnold's career is in the gutter after the monumental flop of Dark Fate, so no studio is going to back the cost of a new $60m Conan flick and advertising.

If what Arnold said is true:
"Right now there's a lot of sizzle in town about Conan. The question is just, would they go with a TV series, like a Netflix or one of the other places, or would they go with a movie? So that's the debate right now. I'm really excited about the idea of doing another Conan movie, especially to do something like King Conan. I've always looked forward to playing that character again."
That there's a lot of sizzle and there is (or was) indeed some kind of debate happening about whether TV or Netflix or film.... I'm just like, why not all of it?

As Salvador Dalí said: "Just because I'm paranoid doesn't mean they aren't trying to poison me!"

Mr Shwarzenegger may well be excited about more Conan, but it's not going to happen with him in it.

What do you guys think Arnold is going to say? I think he's just being diplomatic/polite, personally...

Cabinet and CPI may be talking up Conan a great deal, but Arnold's involvement in the project? Something approaching 'Zilch' springs to mind. The only person talking about a King Conan on screen is Arnold. Until actual word comes from Cabinet about King Conan moving forward even on paper with Arnold locked in As Conan, i'm not believing a word of it. Keep dreaming, Mr Schwarzenegger...

Unless something is actually happening with King Conan on film or television, Arnold is actually stoking interest in a project that simply isn't happening. He should have said that there is nothing happening with King Conan, and that CPI are looking at the overall appeal of Conan across his career rather than just the tail end of mythology. That is 100% more true to the situation than his attempt to get publicity for his career based on a long gone to dust film project.

Arnold Schwarzenegger said it in an interview on cameras, Fredrik Malmberg shared it on his Twitter (and Malmberg IS Paradox /Cabinet, etc.); at the same time, there are more then several Conan comics serials published by Marvel, with a King Conan series now added to the rest. Since Marvel is far from being a stranger to movies and TV during the last few decades, and since in popular consciousness Conan and Schwarzenegger are inseparable, I believe there are very good chances what Schwarzenegger is saying is something more then just being polite and diplomatic. I am of course not saying something will come out of this, but it stands to reason there are movie and TV companies that are now showing interest in doing something with Schwarzenegger and Conan.

So based on that, let me ask then; what has happened NOW that didn't happen before to get the King Conan project moving? CPI/Cabinet tried through Universal (i think) to get this project off the ground with obviously no success. If there is some movement on King Conan, we need more than cryptic tweets from Malmberg and 'positive noises' from the film's lead actor.

That's the working theory out there, though there's zero indication there is anything currently going on. However, Marvel has moved VERY quickly to get Conan deeply integrated into the Marvel Universe proper. I'm not expecting Conan to be popping up in any Marvel super hero show or anything like that, but they've put their stake heavily into this piece of IP so that it wouldn't be hard to believe they'll be looking toward doing...something other than comics.

Would it not be wiser then to go with Ryan Condal's 'ready to roll' pitch for a Conan television series, than try to squeeze one last drop of interest out of an Arnold-starring sequel to his 80's Conan films? The former could have a broad future. Limiting King Conan to Arnold book-ending ongoing tales really sounds like a non-starter. Unless even though Amazon have canned Condal's pitch, they still have the rights for a number of months?
