Did you end up renting Sisu, Jason? If so, how was it? No, but I want to. Next rainy weekend day. Plenty of rainy days in North Germany at the mo 😅. Will get to it soon enough as well, though a bit backlogged currently!

Drinker's Chasers - Disney In Crisis: 1/3 Of The Company For Sale
Imagine having a business where you have almost 100% trust for decades, a gold standard that practically gives you a license to print money…and they threw it away in a matter of a few years…and they did it on purpose. People are going to look back on this and say “What the f*** were they thinking?”

The notion of Apple buying it up is also a dubious prospect. I had no idea that Apple were worth that much, and if they snag Disney that would make a colossal monopoly in that market sector even larger than Disney already is. Personally I hope it gets largely broken up and sold off to more independent companies to create a more 'diverse' (if I may use the word) entertainment industry closer to what it was before Disney's acquisition spree.

Good overview here: Disney - Death Of An EmpireThe not knowing what to do with your brand new toys has been a major mess. The Fox thing is a perfect example, it’s basically come down to Avatar, Allen, Predator, Planet of the Apes and those two Marvel properties when you have 100 years of films to get back out to the public in streaming packages to any number of companies that won’t cost customers a dime and will still bring in bucks. Not going to be blockbuster but it could be a regular business. Why the hell are things like Mark of Zorro and the Robe trapped behind paywalls?

I guess the bright side of it is that the wave of political correctness seems to be passing, leaving it's adherents floundering in the backwash. Meanwhile the big gap in the market caused by the failure of certain studios and the erstwhile popular IP's under their wing, leeching customers and tanked by the heavy handed PC messaging, leaves the market wide open for the success of independent producers with smaller budgets and more authentic material backed by grass roots marketing campaigns.
This seems as true of the movie industry as it is for the comics industry right now.
We live in interesting times, that's for sure!
Just my 2c anyhow.

'Investors are freaking out. Wall Street is freaking out. Disney is not the cash cow that it once was and has been hemorrhaging money these last few years. It’s almost like they’re trying to fail!' They are definitely trying to fail. The new Snow White production, to quote Rachael Zegler 'it's no longer 1937...she's not going to be saved by the prince, she is not going to be dreaming about true love, she will be dreaming about becoming the leader she can be.....' haha, WTF !?! There is no other way to see it, but that they are purposefully running Disney into the ground, this insistence on catering to that very small, but not very lucrative, ultra left minority. Seems like it's not about $$$ anymore, thought at least capitalism would kinda bring things around, but some other shit seems to be going on with Disney and other outfits, at least that's the only way to explain it now.

They made that movie already, it was called Snow White and the Huntsman and who was the popular character in that film? It does seem almost purposeful doesn’t it?

Yeah, and that was only a decade ago when they made that, and even in that relatively small time things have changed so much. Remember Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters starring Jeremy Renner and Gemma Arterton, also around ten or so years, watched that again a few nights ago, fun little movie, but imagine what they would do with that now.

And none for the better. Odds Disney pulls a Batgirl with this? I doubt there’ll be even a Day The Clown Cried morbid curiosity about it.
