I understand the sentiment completely. I’ve been a D+ subscriber since Day 1 so I’ve come to terms with keeping them going. Marvel has been very bad with the TV shows on physical media, basically forcing you to do the stream. Star Wars is basically following suit
Almost any new show is not a physical media priority, whether it’s D+, (HBO) Max, Peacock or P+, they want (heck NEED) the subscription.

You could wait until next week when new episodes of Mando finish, then marathon and cancel.

Ah, Star Wars. The original trilogy, the prequels to an extent, Rogue One and the Clone Wars animated series. That's it for me. Even though I would have loved an Ahsoka show, because I liked that character, I won't go near any of this stuff. You really need to give Mandalorian and the final episodes of the Book of Bobba Fett (where Djin guest stars) a chance. It embraces the pulp science fantasy roots as well as the Western and Samurai influence of the original trilogy. Obi-Wan Wan wasn't as good as it could have been, same with most of the Bobba Fett episodes (the last few episodes of the Book of Bobba Fett are really the Mandalorian Season 2.5). But don't deny yourself the best Star Wars since the original trilogy. Pascal is a great lead and Sackhoff has been the perfect addition, one of the best actresses of her generation (not to mention she continues to have a butt that doesn't quit and defies aging). I'd also put Andor way up there, right under Mandalorian - I thought that series was very well done. And regarding Mandalorian - You also can't go wrong with having Giancarlo Esposito playing a major villain.

You could wait until next week when new episodes of Mando finish, then marathon and cancel. I was able to grandfather myself in at the lower price for no commercials plus get Hulu and ESPN+ basically for free, so it’s a matter of long term planning. Not sure what’s going to happen with Max, my sister and I tag team on the streamers, we may have to coordinate watch times.

Some phone companies, will throw in Disney+ for having phone service with them. I had Verizon for a bit and they did this.

How do folks here feel about the prospect of Rey leading a new Jedi Order?

How do folks here feel about the prospect of Rey leading a new Jedi Order? It'll depend on the execution. If they can get the feel of Force Awakens and the solid storytelling of Filoni's work, it could be enjoyable. Whether they really need the Jedi back...I'm agnostic. Might be interesting, might be boring and cliched.

If they go further down the trail of woke garbage, it will be just that.

How do folks here feel about the prospect of Rey leading a new Jedi Order? Not excited, but not dismayed. I guess I'm neutral about it, but I'd be more excited if they pursued other characters instead.

Ouch! It's coming to something when folk in the financial sector, in this case a media industry investor, are beginning to notice: ‘The Force has left Lucasfilm’: What has gone wrong for the studio behind ‘Star Wars’ and ‘Indiana Jones’—and how Disney’s Bob Iger can salvage his $4 billion investmentfinance.yahoo.com/news/force-left-lucasfilm-gone-wrong-083000919.htmlI hope you don't mind me posting this too much because many of you seem to be enjoying the new Star Wars stuff from Disney.

I’d agree it definitely doesn’t have the same feeling to it, that specialness. I think The Force Awakens had a little of that feel to it, but the next two films squandered it.
I don’t necessarily blame the shows for that, but as with Marvel, they overexposed things and are trying to ratchet things back.
To get in touch with the universal stories the original dealt with means it’ll have to ignore some modern sensibilities and so far they have shown they are not only incapable but utterly unwilling to do it. They seem to be willing to destroy themselves rather than tell those type of stories.

The last two sequel films are where they really went wrong. They felt the financial loss starting after the second one with Solo (which is actually good), and then Episode 9 underperformed.
The Disney+ series are good too, but due to startup costs for Disney+, they are still a financial loss.
I thought they learned their lesson with the films, but here we are getting another Rey film. It's just better to do a time jump and move on. If that movie bombs watch them cut back drastically on Star Wars content and blame it on something other than the Rey film.

Yeah, they've definitely been pumping out a lot of product (Star Wars and Marvel both) and there's that old bugaboo of increasing production = drop in quality if not careful (Thor: Love & Thunder and Antman: Quantumania spring to mind...Kenobi was only OK, the best I can say is it preserved Darth Vader's legacy of badassness). OTOH, there were a truckload of Star Wars projects in pipeline that we've since learned have been killed (Rogue Squadron, Kevin Feige Star Wars project)... so while I'm bummed I'm not going to get a Star Wars dogfighting movie, maybe some leaders in Disney are smartly saying "OK, hold up, is this really good enough to put STAR WARS in the title card?" But I've been accused of relentless optimism, so who knows...

Unfortunately I don’t think it was quality concern as the driving factor for the cancellations/delays but financial. But we can hope it played a LITTLE part.
