The comic industry will probably fall in its current format, but trades sell extremely well and comics in places like France which are also sold as trades are also very healthy.
The big publishers will probably just have to adapt and switch to a new business model of selling a few big books per year rather than monthly issues that rely on ads to survive. The thing with this model though is that it rewards actual good products so they'll have to stop making those ridiculous PC books they're so set on pushing.

Update concerning digital comics from Dark Horse: Digital Update March 26: We will not be releasing any comics digitally that are not also available in print. We still have collections, original graphic novels, and art books shipping through our bookstore distributor Penguin Random House (from whom comics retailers can also order). For the layman, Diamond's customers are Direct Market or "specialty" comic book shops, mail order services, bookstores, and other retail operations who buy discounted products from the distributor to sell to their customers. "Vendors" are the comic book publishers and manufacturers of games, toys, collectibles, etc., who depend on Diamond to distribute those products to retail stores. As the world responds to the outbreak of COVID-19, our focus is on protecting employees, understanding the risks to our business, evaluating the risks to our industry and examining the Federal Government resources available. While the full impact of this epidemic is still unknown, one thing is certain: supply chain disruptions have cash flow implications across the extended industry that can’t be underestimated.
While we work to understand the current industry landscape, the unfortunate truth is that we are no longer receiving consistent payments from our customers. This requires that at this time, we hold payments to vendors previously scheduled to release this week. This is a difficult decision and not one we make lightly. As this situation continues to evolve, we are committed to building out a plan for payment and will have more information to share later this week.

A took a moment to think about things and how yeah, the virus definitely seems like the final nail in the coffin, but things were on the way out from what, 5 years ago?
I also see a commonality between a lot businesses that are failing in different ways- specifically, video games, movies, comics and wrestling. As soon as they are successful enough, it's like instead of paying attention and forecasting what the demands will be for their products- they arrogantly start trying to lead the customer- tell the customer what they should like and have a demand for. Then they begin producing that.
Video Games- X-Box One is a perfect example with how they forced 'television watching' into the thing. NOBODY wanted that. The movement toward online-only and digital. Sure makes sense video games would move in this direction, but I think in general they have tried capitalizing on it too much by releasing incomplete games, pay-for expansions that aren't really expansions, tons and tons of micro-transactions, yearly passes and strong-arming ownership over digital. Hell, we are even seeing shades of mandatory commercial watching being included at start-up screens. The young generation that has come up with this as their baseline doesn't know any better, but NONE of this is truly beneficial for the customer in the long run. You don't end up really owning digital games. Then, they lose support or your hard-drive crashes and you never get it back. Micro-transactions are now the norm, which nobody should want. Half the digital games now have you create an account at the developers site to get the full game...it's just a sickening mess. Remember complete games that you actually own, pop in, hit a power button and are at the title screen? ...and don't forget the woke shit in video games too!
Movies - again telling the customer that you should like progressive, degenerate woke shit and if you don't or don't buy a ticket, you're a bigot. The arrogance! The list of movies like this is growing and gorwing. Just check out the next iteration of Cinderalla where the fairy God-mother is a black tranny. Then, when nobody goes to see it, the insults will be hurled.
Comics- same thing.
Wrestling - not so much woke stuff, but the moving away from the actual wrestling and format of sport for titles to this commercial-riddled "entertainment" where there is nothing at stake and every vignette is like a little movie all to get away from the carnie aspect...they lost the formula of what made wrestling cool and sustainable and now they have to tarp off 75% of the arenas so the cameras don't show how empty they are. Again- nobody wanted this. Nobody asked for Vince to pretend he is a movie director.
