Hi folks Just wanted to let you know about our latest project. The fifth Innsmouth Gold anthology will be a collection of new Sword & Sorcery stories! Entitled The Feast of Fools and Other Tales, we're gathering a bunch of yarns from the Innsmouth Writing Circle for your delight! You can get details of how to back it at the link below. Just spotted this thread, thanks for the link. He says 'Druss' differently from how I expected. Have you read any of the Troy trilogy yet? I'm currently reading it for the second time, as like you, I only have a couple of 'new' Gemmell books to read. And I don't really want them to end 😅. The man is a legend. I've not got to the Troy books yet, but I did just finish White Knight Black Swan, recommended by Jason earlier in this thread which I thought was excellent. I reread Lion of Macedon, Dark Prince and Quest for Lost Heroes recently. I'm now reading an REH short story collection, and may go for the Troy trilogy soon, more likely than not. Thanks for the recommendation! Ha funnily enough, Lion of Macedon and Dark Prince are the only two original fantasy I have left from DG to read. I also have Rhyming Rings and White Knight, though I've been holding off on those two too. I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the Troy series. It's interesting that he mentioned in the interview that he learnt from Lion of Macedon how much more difficult historical fiction is than straight up fantasy. The Troy series must have been a massive undertaking!

The Troy series must have been a massive undertaking! Yes he shared REH's opinion on historical fiction and like REH found his own solution by combining it with fantasy. Nevertheless he was lining up another historical for after the Troy trilogy based on Constantine before his untimely death. Macedon and Prince are as you might expect two great reads. Macedon is more of a historical with fantastical elements whereas Prince is more historical fantasy, closer in nature to his heroic fantasies.
