I finally read this last night, and I wasn't impressed. I figured I'd at least give it a shot, but I don't think I'll be finishing this series. I haven't read the 'Bone Whispers' story in the back yet, but even if I like it, I'm hesitant to pay the cover price just for that... The regular covers by Sana Takeda are beautiful, but don't feel right for the Age of Conan book - still nice art on the covers. The art and story by Tini Howard & Kate Niemczyk have let this book down, I also doubt I'll pick up the 2nd issue. I guess I'll have to read Bone Whispers in the Perilous Worlds collection. I agree with you about the covers - They are very nice! I think the interior art is OK. It's nothing special, imo, but I wouldn't mind it at all if the story were good.

The art looks flat, as if done by a child. If I remember correctly, in Marvel continuity, her father was a king. Why change things? Also, if Marvel is willing to change Belit's continuity, doesn't that affect the Conan continuity as well. Does this mean anything goes regarding the Conan titles?

I rather prefer this rendition of Bêlit by Esteban Maroto I posted in another thread.

You'd rather prefer great art to the crap Marvel is doing with Bêlit right now? Me too!!!!

...But this pale highschool teenager and huntress of sea monsters? No, thanks. That's not Bêlit, that's an impostor.

I don't know what they are thinking about. Dark Horse screwed up Queen of the Black Coast and now it is Marvel's turn. Even Glenat's take was inadequate to say the least. I feel this Howard story will never get a proper modern treatment unfortunately because I would love to see some great pirate Conan stories. At this moment it is very unlikely. What a wasted opportunity. Again.

I rather prefer this rendition of Bêlit by Esteban Maroto I posted in another thread. thats the best 'death of belit' art i have ever seen. Maroto is great. == marvel seem like pathetic assa-holes. but as long as they get the expensive licence paid, conan owners dont give a sheet?

Read this last night. It was average, not the worst Conan comic I've read and not as bad as Wood's run either.
Making her father a former pirate king/admiral is a weird choice. Hopefully as Belit grows older in these 5 issues her characterization will improve. The art isn't too bad actually. I wouldn't want to see it in any of the other Conan books, but for Pirate Girl Belit it's okay.

When I feel the art is OK, it really means it is not that good. Just acceptable. And that doesn't make the cut.
