Good artwork, except that Wolverine looks huge and towering compared to Conan. I think the sizes are way off since Conan is in the foreground and Wolverine is more towards the background.

Comicbook writers have always had to come up with new ways to adjust the power levels of the various heroes up or down to make story arcs more challenging. As a few examples from the days of classic Marvel: when Spiderman fought Black Widow in TAS 86 he was weakened by a mysterious ailment so that he wasn’t too OP compared to the highly trained but more human power level Black Widow. Another classic example is Thor getting his powers revoked by Odin occasionally so that he isn’t too OP for certain storylines, like in FF 73 where Spidey, Thor and Daredevil face of against the FF (who think Daredevil is still Doc Doom). Another example is where a few readers wrote in to Stan Lee saying that they thought the Invisible Girl wasn’t powerful enough, so Stan had her develop her force field ability somewhat later in the run. All the above examples come from Stan Lee himself. Certain types of team ups and crossovers must be really difficult to write, not only because of power level mismatches, but with crossovers characters can sometimes get pulled so far out of their original context that they’d need to change or adapt quite drastically. Captain America initially suffers from being a man decades out of his time after he’s pulled from the ice, what to speak of a man like Conan who would be an eon out of his own time. Can’t remember how Kull reacted to being pulled out of the Thurian Age into Dark Age Britain in REH’s KotN. Could Conan in a sense be considered a proto-superhero along with Tarzan and John Carter? JC and Tarzan were influences on Superman’s creators and Conan is reasonably contemporaneous with those. Talk about pop culture conundrums.

There are only two reasons to buy such a book: siliness or curiosity.

Overall, a horrible cover. Conan's head too small, right arm lookslike it belongs to an articulated doll. Why would anyone pay for this crap? This is the worst art since Lolos, way back in Dark Horse's Queen pastiche.

Boy was this a fun issue. I'm glad I didn't just throw this aside due to the team up concept. I'm really impressed with Deadato's art, he hasn't lost a step from his Secret Avengers days.
It was cool seeing Conan doing Conan-like things such as stealing from and outsmarting a dark wizard.
Thanks to the Savage Land setting it feels like Conan isn't out of place. It will be interesting to see if that remains the case if the "team" leaves for the more modern settings in the Marvel Universe.
