Hasn’t this been kicking around for a while? Ok whatever good luck with it, my emotional reserve is pretty tapped out and like kemp said this is art house stuff so do your experimentation there.

Getting a new Conan series or film these days looks pretty grim I would say. Our western culture is getting ideologically subverted so fast that I think the chances of seeing a straight white male alpha barbarian on screen is slim at best.
Not all doom and gloom though. I have watched some of season six of the Viking series, maybe there is inspiration to be gained from from such historical dramas, check out the episode 'Lost Souls'. My understanding is that it is an Canadian Irish co production collaboration, and they have signed on quality actors like the Russian Danila Kozlovsky who plays Oleg of Novgorod.
Maybe the show's writer and creator Michael Hirst should have a hand in a future Conan production.

I think they should forget about Conan and pitch a series based on the Boxing Yarns of Steve Costigan.

Well if anything was brewing (doubtful but still) it’s on hold due to the writers strike.

When it comes to Hollywood these days they might as well replace the writers with AI, might be an improvement.

When it comes to Hollywood these days they might as well replace the writers with AI, might be an improvement. Funny thing is THAT is one of the issues! Usually I’m agnostic on these kind of things but seeing how my soon to be former job has changed in 5 years it might be a good idea to stop for a second and think about what needs to be addressed going forward. The Black Widow situation is Exhibit A.

Usually I’m agnostic on these kind of things but seeing how my soon to be former job has changed in 5 years it might be a good idea to stop for a second and think about what needs to be addressed going forward. The Black Widow situation is Exhibit A. The film industry is a business at the end of the day, if the studios can increase corporate profits by reducing the number of writing staff via some form of generative AI content which is later edited by a senior writer then that is what they are going to do, some form of draft editing that cuts out many of the 'middle people' in the writer's room. Another form of eliminating workers and cutting costs to make a CEO drool. Happening everywhere, my younger brother is a secondary school teacher, and has talked about the real possibility of students using a new form of plagiarism by means of ChatGPT and similar AI interactive systems for school essays. It's already happening in some universities. I have read articles where some have speculated that most jobs will be replaced by AI in the next few years. Not sure on that, but the question remains what you would do with so many unemployed people. Of course this is all speculation and outside the scope of this thread, but wouldn't it be surreal if a future Conan movie script and story started from some form of AI drafts that were later edited.

Tweet from Malmberg , sounds like Netflix _is_dead and they _may_ looking at a film_again_!
"We spent three years with Netflix and talked to them about Arnold several times. We are now working with a major filmmaker who is great and a true Conan fan. Will share more when I can by Crom!"
So another few years of waiting on the cards!!!!

Oh for crying out loud, I don’t know WHAT that means! Definitely not something happening anytime soon, where ever it’s intended to show up. Who’s out there that’s a major name director who can still get people to go to the movies? It may mean they wanted to get Arnold involved in something for Netflix but it didn’t work out so they’re moving onto a name director for the project…or not…who the hell knows?

I think if they went back to adapting David Gemmel's LEGEND and peppering in some Eastwood's UNFORGIVEN, with Arnold.... a good Conan movie COULD be made. The original interview, or snippets of it is making it's way around the web in various forms: www.tor.com/2023/05/16/arnold-schwarzenegger-wants-to-the-next-conan-to-give-us-unforgiven-vibes/I would rather, obviously, have a Howardian Conan, but it's just too damn hard to separate Conan from Arnold when it comes to the general public. But I don't think we are getting either situation any time soon. At least we have (what appears to be) a quality new comic series.
