I wanted to mention, I've ordered Gemmell's Legend. Once I've read it, I may post about whatever it has in common with the Legend of Conan script, apart from the broad plot similarities and a few character names that I know of.

I completely forgot to mention this, but a while back I got my hands another, earlier draft of Legend of Conan from 2014, also written by Will Beall. It follows the same story as the later draft overall, but with some differences. -The fact that Rek is working for Thugra isn't a twist, as one of the first scenes introduces him being led before him, where we get to see the inside of the Mountain of Power again. -Katuman, one of Thugra's minions, follows Rek with some Pictish scouts when he goes north looking for Conan. On the way back to Shadizar, they capture him and take him to the abandoned Golamira Prison, on the shores of Lake Golamira, and Conan has to swim under the frozen lake to get inside and rescue Rek. There's also a Kronosaurus swimming around under there, which eats some bad guys. -Instead of operating out of the Tower of the Serpent (which was inexplicably outside the city walls in the later draft), Thugra has his army partially excavate a ziggurat in a valley near to Shadizar. It's an old Set temple connected to the Acheronian city under Shadizar that we learn about later. Some Serpent Men are present here, and Thugra also uses some weird gas to brainwash women into what he calls Brides of Set, who have snake like eyes. There's also a giant gila monster that Thugra sacrifices some people to, and Conan fights it later on. -Katuman rides a rhinoceros into battle, because it's supposedly the only steed big enough to be able to carry him. I honestly have a hard time picturing that in my head. -In the later draft, Radegund turning out to be Conan's daughter is a big reveal and prompts a change in Conan, who goes from simply wanting an honorable death in combat to actually wanting to win the battle. Here, Osric tells him about it much earlier, and it doesn't have the same impact. -Radegund's mother doesn't make any more sense here than she did in the other draft. -The later draft skipped over Conan and company's trip through the subterranean ruins of Acheron, but it's shown here, and they even fight a few Serpent Men. -Instead of Thugra's heart transforming into a weird centipede thing and carrying off the Eye of the Serpent, somebody's hand is shown grabbing it off the battlefield. The hook for a possible sequel is more or less the same, just less weird. -This is more of a general observation on the story here, but the reason the Eye of the Serpent can bring back Thulsa Doom is because it contains his "life essence." Which begs the question of why he cared more about the dead snake in the original movie than the super magical jewel with his soul inside it or whatever.
There are some other details here and there that are different, but those are the most notable ones.

Well, that's a bit... Strange... Tho, I'll say one thing on your final toughts, Karamid - if it isnt finished by the same man who started it (Conan the Ubermench) back in 82, it wont have same feeling or would it have some grand logic as a sequel into it. Just like yarns and novels; REH was original and unique, De Camp wasnt - he just tried to build already established character and world on his own image. So, kinda glad they step away from this script.

Even Thomas and Conway's Conan II, while pretty good, didn't totally work as a sequel, Subotai showing up just to get Alien 3'd on page seven notwithstanding. And honestly, even if Wagner's Conan 3 scripts were any good, who knows how well they fit with the other two movies, or if Dino would have tampered with them like he did with Destroyer.

Does anyone have the early Conan the Barbarian 2011 screenplay with werewolves? Did anyone even read it?

I'd love to read the first draft of Conan 2011 to find out how much of the script was changed. Considering that Sean Hood was still writing the script during shooting, it should be very interesting...

I'm not required to keep these on lock down like Legend and the Yakin script, so here they are. First DraftRewriteThey're both from Donnelly and Oppenheimer, and both have a couple of semi-interesting moments, along with a lot of baaaaad. I don't like the movie much at all but many of the problems were there from day one.

I stopped at about page 10 or so of the first draft. Failed to keep me into it.

Donnelly & Oppenheimer definitely aren't masters, heh. They also wrote a Fire & Ice remake script, but I haven't been able to get a hold of it.

I've just checked out D and O's credits on the imdb, these guys haven't worked now for 8 years and have a trail of shit behind them that could fertalise greater London! Not one of their previous credits is worth a damn. Why on earth Lionsgate hired them i have no idea.

Marvel actually commissioned a Doctor Strange script from them but threw it out completely by the time they made the actual movie. I've read it, and it was thoroughly mediocre.

I really don't understand how Oppenheimer and Donnelly continued to get work; after checking the IMDB, ever film they have made (4!) in the last 15 years has been a solid, resounding failure. They do not have one successful credit to their name. Makes you wonder about how the Hollywood machine works.
