'Big' John Buscema had this way of creating his own heroic fantasy look, and I have to admit, that it kinda influenced my view of how these worlds and the people that inhabited them should look like. If I was forced to name my favourite artists to depict Conan,Big John would be in the top three or so.

Maybe it is the prejudice of my age group, but forever in my minds eye, illustrated Conan for me, is typified through John Buscema, Ernie Chan and BWS. Though many other artists captured Conan's spirit, it is Buscema particularly, who has rendered Conan how I envisage him. At the time when the first Conan movie came out, getting used to seeing Arnold Schwarzenegger as Conan was pleasantly offset by seeing our familiar rendition of Conan done by Buscema in the movie adaption comics. I will always continue to enjoy every new rendition of Conan as it is released, but when I think of Conan I see Buscema's Conan.

Headline should read Buscema’s daughter reports artwork stolen, this one makes her sound like the thief.

Yeah, not a very clear or accurate headline. Here's a link to a Facebook post by Joe Jusko with all the stolen pieces of John Buscema art. Hope they get Big John's art back soon.

I can't seem to access all of the pics in the above post. You can find some scans of the stolen artwork at the link below. Rallying call grows to comics community to help recover John Buscema artworks stolen from his familydownthetubes.net/?p=122992

One of my favourite tribute pieces to John Buscema. This one by Benito Gallego. Big John's influences can be clearly seen in some of Gallego's works, although he has blended some of those influences into his own unique style of heroic fantasy art.
