Issue #21 makes it three extraordinarily solid issues in a row as the all the elements laid down over the past two come together in unexpected ways to make a fitting climax to a tight little pastiche storyline. It's good stuff.
I like the art but am challenged to recall any pastiche storyline as well written, balanced and consistent as this one in the comic for a long time.

10 Best Fantasy & Horror Comics of 2021 (So Far)Marvel’s Conan the Barbarian series has been one of the best depictions of the character since Robert E. Howard first introduced the Cimmerian as a reaver, thief, and slayer going on adventures “between the years when the oceans drank Atlantis and the gleaming cities, and the years of the rise of the Sons of Aryas.”
Writer Jason Aaron and artist Mahmuh Asrar began working on the current Conan the Barbarian series in 2019 before a new writer, Jim Zub, took over. Zub has perfectly captured the essence of Conan, carving stories out of the Hyborean past in a way that Robert E. Howard would be proud of and recreating the Cimmerian's battles against harrowing enemies on his epic adventures.Source: www.cbr.com/best-fantasy-horror-comics-2021/

Marvel Conan hasn't really done much for me this time around but this arc has been really good.

Review: CONAN THE BARBARIAN #22
Just when I was starting to think that this arc had run out of steam, Jim Zub and company found a way to keep me intrigued. This issue places Conan slightly out of his element, arriving at a lavish village in hopes of returning the Tooth of the Nightstar. What unfolds from there has every element you’d want out of a Conan story—action, unpredictable fantasy elements, and political intrigue. While there are occasional moments where the issue lags or the art looks a little uncanny, the payoff is so worth it. -- Jenna Anderson

Another good issue. Land of the Lotus is shaping up to be a great arc and there's lots of promise for future issues. I particularly liked the "He wanted to teach me something, so I taught him as well!" interaction, felt like classic Conan.

REH's Khitai was based of the Chinese Khitan Empire, and ancient/medieval China in general, but in the pages of the latest CtB there are also a few elements of Feudal Japan. Than again, both Japan and Korea were heavily influenced by the Chinese.
