More importantly, anyone got some material they're trying to unload?

Hi, I'm at the start of collecting SSoC. I have books 1, 5 and 21 of the Dark Horse omnibus. I saw some opinions that collecting the original magazines was the way to go. I know the omnibus books don't have non-Conan material or any of the essays. So I have two questions: 1. Is it really better to collect the magazines instead of the omnibus books? 2. Is there anywhere I can find the non-Conan material in the magazines? Has it been collected? Are there scans available (even low-quality is okay by me)? I say go for the original mags if you can afford them. It's a tremendous amount of work putting together a full set, and you'll have to sell off a lot of extras that you pick up along the way, but it's definitely the best way to read them. The Marvel omnis are miles better than the Dark Horse omnis. Hardcover, bigger pages, better paper, higher contrast, color covers, and more extras. But they're not complete, and there is no guarantee that Titan will finish the line, so it's a gamble. Dark Horse omnis are almost certainly the cheapest way to go. I don't care for the format myself, but you have a few already, so if you're happy with them, you might as well continue. As to whether the non-Conan material or essays are collected - some yes, some know. There are omnis (both Marvel and Dark Horse) of the Kull and Solomon Kane stuff. Marvel omnis print most but not all of it. Again, the original mags are the best.

I recently found a seller on Etsy who had scans of all 238 Savage Sword issues (https://www.etsy.com/il-en/listing/1479092097/238-issues-bonuses-savage-sword-of-conan?click_key=1e60895027ddd62d4b1fa7d0c65e30f1c04dd181%3A1479092097&click_sum=6bc4cc6a&ref=sold_out-24) and I purchased that. It's only $10. I'll probably read them that way and only buy physical copies of what I really enjoy. Since my main goal is just to make a chronology of all the Conan material that I like, this probably makes the most sense for me (and will keep me from spending money on stuff I don't really need).

I suppose it all depends on what you want, if you are looking for particular issues, say a missing issue to complete a continuing story arc that went over two or more mags I would just hunt out the original SSOC. I did that years ago, but understand they will be getting harder to find as the years roll on. Some may be creating digital collections from scanned material, never looked at that myself, but that's only cause I am old school when it comes to that sort of thing and like the actual printed stuff in my hands. I want them somewhere on my book shelf, just pick up and read

1-100 are getting more expensive but are not all that rare. Most can be easily found on any given day on eBay. There are a few issues, of course, that are a bit harder to find or pricier. The ones that are rarer are closer and closer you get to 235.

I second the eBay motion if you're going for the original mags (Which is what I've been doing the past couple years). I'm only missing a few of the later issues above #190. I somehow found a copy of #235 for 5 bucks at my LCS it was unbelievable.

Now, that is steal. Surely beats mine.
I managed to find a very nice 235 in an eBay lot. One of the rare times I lucked out. It was in my daily email alerts I get from eBay. I clicked on the link thinking to myself "Nah, it sold. No way it is still available." To my surprise it was still there. In a lot of 10, there it sat. Nearly all of the other issues were pretty beat up (some quite badly to where I'd feel bad to re-sell them) and I only needed 1 other. But I had to buy it. $40 shipped. And 235 is in just beautiful shape.

I also got a crispy 235 for cheap in a lot of other issues. It was early on in my collecting of the run and at the time I didn't know it was one of the rarer issues.

Likewise. My issue 235 is in phenomenal shape, much better than most of my other issues. So much so that I'm hesitant to even take it out of the bag and board again.
