Arnold's bad luck, but if you have a choice between 15 minutes of Red Nails and a more thorough presentation, you go for the latter.

That's a shame. Heard some good things about Love, Death and Robots. The writing in season one is weak, but the animation can be impressive at times. A lot of the shorts are bad and rather forgettable in my opinion. The writing ruins it for me generally.

A lot of the shorts are bad and rather forgettable in my opinion. The writing ruins it for me generally. I wrote this comment about 1.5 years ago, but remains true, and relevant to this Love, Death & Robots new: I recently watched a few episodes of “Love, Death & Robots” on Netflix; there’s some hard science fiction stories with a very realistic animation style, and a dark Warhammer 40K aesthetic. I enjoyed the show, but part of me kept asking “Why can’t we get some good fantasy in this style? Conan? Fafhrd & the Grey Mouser? Hell, even Pathfinder?” For this style of animation, see the episodes: “Sonnie’s Edge”, “Beyond the Aquila Rift”, “Shape-Shifters”, “Lucky 13” and “The Secret War” (this one gets bonus points for being very Lovecraftian). ***************** I get the appeal of hand-drawn, but the economic factors would not allow that. Hell, Disney has abandoned it and Disney practically owned the art form for half a century. CGI, done right, would be a perfect vehicle with a good writer/director/composer. And if David Fincher would get behind a project like that with Conan? Could be something really special...

Dwayne Johnson Reportedly Wants To Revive Conan The BarbarianLast week, we reported that insider Daniel Richtman had claimed in the broadest and vaguest sense that Dwayne Johnson was interested in reviving an unnamed Arnold Schwarzenegger franchise to star in himself, which generated plenty of debate and discussion in the comments section.
The tipster has now followed up his murky intel by offering that The Rock has set his sights on Conan the Barbarian as the property in question, which if true, would be quite possibly the least exciting option available. After all, the former professional wrestler did the sword and sorcery bit almost two decades ago in The Scorpion King, which itself is being rebooted and updated for modern audiences through the actor’s Seven Bucks Productions.
Conan is already in the process of being revived as it is, too, with Netflix putting a TV series into active development after the streaming service acquired the live-action and animated rights to Robert E. Howard’s most famous creation in September of last year. The 49 year-old does have a working relationship with the platform having headlined upcoming action blockbuster Red Notice and signed on to star opposite Emily Blunt in comic book adaptation Ball & Chain, but there are plenty of projects on his horizons that sound much more exciting than a retread of a franchise that he’s essentially done before given the similarities between Arnold’s barbarian and Johnson’s Mathayus.
Of course, Richtman has linked the highest-paid talent in Hollywood to upwards of a dozen recognizable properties over the last few months, and with Conan the Barbarian in the midst of an episodic reinvention at Netflix, it’s best to hear from the man himself before getting hyped about Dwayne Johnson venturing into the Hyborian Age.

Appearance wise The Rock might be a good fit, but having seen a lot of his movies and being a pro wrestling fan, I don’t think he has the right mannerisms, speaking voice, or subtleties for Conan.

Do the damn Doc Savage movie before you try to horn in on Conan, Dwayne! Yeah, I'd accept him as Doc Savage. I'd see him again as The Scorpion King. But, as Conan? Nope.

The Doc Savage movie fell apart, sadly. I think Shane Black said it had something to do with the studio wanting it set in the modern day and he wanted to maintain the 1930s setting.

I guess it is just a rumour for now, but I would not mind seeing Dwayne Johnson as King Conan in a 6 episode series or feature length episode.
Netflix could have a relative newcomer portray Conan in a series following the adventures of a young Conan new to the civilisations to the south, and also have a feature length King Conan movie starring Dwayne Johnson.
Maybe the animations will catch on better than the live-action stuff at Netflix.
Who knows maybe the audience will find Solomon Kane more interesting than the Cimmerian for a change.

If he wants to do the voice in one of the possible animated projects, that'd be ok. He's in the TOO big category, both in size and pop culture recognition (never thought I'd be saying that!)
If he wants to use his pull, do it for the Doc Savage project.

The Doc Savage movie fell apart, but they're now working on a TV limited series. I doubt it will ever get made, unless James Patterson's upcoming Shadow novel is a huge success and Netflix scores big with the Howard stuff. Then, I have no doubt Hollywood will start cranking out as many updated pulp projects as possible.

I read about it today. On Wegotthiscovered 😶 There were announcements in a couple of groups, and the information allegedly came from them. So I don’t think we have nothing to worry about. These guys are the masters in serving clickbait's. The story goes that he would continue where Arnie left off (as they say), with the old franchise. Even if it's true, I don't know what to say... I love The Rock, but somehow I don't see him as Conan. I may be wrong, of course. In Hercules he was Conanic in aperiance.

Makes sense that the Rock would want to go that route. He is an action star and was inspired like so many others by Arnie. I seriously doubt the Rock knows anything about REH. I just hope this doesn’t “derail” the REH inspired Netflix project. That would be a shame.

I've just recently discovered Doc Savage and they're great books, but without the 30's setting I don't know if it would be as good. You might as well just make a movie with a different name at that point.
I guess the studio doesn't think there is much demand for a 30's setting, and that it would also cost a lot less to just film it in modern times.
