It would be great if they could get Ryan Condal involved again - even if only for a few scripts. But now that he's joint showrunner and executive producer on House of the Dragon he may be a tad busy.

It's almost as if HBO got a call: "Hello...Amazon did what?...both Miguel AND Ryan Condal are available?!? Get them on the phone now!"

...and it's guaranteed Conan will be woke as hell. There's is no way they are going to portray anything that even closely resembles a white man accurately to Conan's utter dominance and sway over women. It's not happening gentlemen. It goes far too hard against the agenda. Can someone explain to me how the existence & success of "The Witcher" doesn't directly refute this? IDK?.......my wife had no prior knowledge of the character/franchise and assumed that Ciri or Yennefer was "The Witcher", and IMO Cavill was almost a secondary charter in 1st season. It's Netflix's "The Last Kingdom" series that I would use as "hope" that Conan is treated fairly, the main character Uhtred is a "good guy" but pretty much does what (and who ) ever he wants to accomplish his goals. Also, the show portrays strong women without the modern trend of emasculating the male characters.

Yeah I guess that's the thing that gives me hope; I think there's lots of TV shows were the main character is either amoral or just selfish. I don't see any evidence that there's a trend that main characters have to be "good"; a lead character can be plenty compelling without being good. Dexter, Lucifer, Uhtred in Last Kingdom, Game of Thrones of course... just finished season 3 of "You" which is about a guy who stalks women and ultimately ends up murdering them (in addition to a number of acquaintances along the way) and it just got renewed for season 4... There's no guarantees of course; any collaborative creative project like a TV show has plenty of opportunities to get jacked up. I'm just saying, the segment saying that it's GUARANTEED it'll be "too woke" or whatever are kind of being defeatist / creating fake boogeymen. -Mick.

The anti-hero is quite the trope these days, in a lot media, be it comics, movies or TV shows. Well over-done.
The "too woke" crowd often seem to get more ruffled than those on the other side. And yet, they claim the same! Tired, it is.

The first post on this thread about a Netflix Conan TV series was well over a year ago. Good, bad, or just mediocre, it would be good for this thing to get underway, or will there be more of the same speculation this time next year on this very same topic. Nothing much out there, and can be summed up this way 'Netflix is currently developing a live-action Conan the Barbarian series, based on the sword-swinging titan created by Robert E. Howard's for 1930s pulp sci-fi/fantasy magazines. Since then, Conan has been adapted into books, (Marvel and Dark Horse) comics, and films (two in the 80s with Arnold Schwarzenegger and one in 2011 with Jason Momoa). Back in 2018, it was reported Amazon was developing its own Conan series, but it appears that the project is now dead.' posted September of this year www.ign.com/articles/book-to-movie-adaptations-coming-to-netflix

To w
The basic response these day
We're having the same situation over on a Hendrix 2021 speculation thread, we've been waiting and waiting and waiting and we're almost to the end of the year and it looks like apart from a recycled album there will not be any new music this year from a guy who's been dead for over 50 years...

And until some progress on the series is made, we will likely be going in circles here.

I have little hope for the progression of this series right now. Then again, maybe the wait would be worth it.

I'd forgotten they were doing Narnia and didn't know about Asterix. Narnia was announced more than 2 years ago with no news, Asterix will be around 6 months with no further updates, one of my friends told me that Netflix its only adquiring licenses to avoid other streamings having them, and if thats the case, its a shame, but only time will know.

Once it expires, if they do nothing to develop the series, CPI/Funcom could then put the IP back on the market I presume.

Look forward to seeing how their House of the Dragon is received next year. Bet they make for a great team. Never quite realised to what degree GRRM was riffing on Moorcock's Melniboneans 'till seeing the trailer for this (though GRRM has always been very up front about his influences and is a friend of MM).
