I think that pulp characters just have too much competition in this day and age. Every modern author and their brother are trying to get streaming deals these days. Log on to any streaming platform and you would see half a dozen series based on modern day novels. Not to mention streaming services have started fighting over anime tooth and nail (for instance, Bastard!!: Heavy Metal, Dark Fantasy at Netflix). There's just too much competition for the old pulp characters to get out of development hell. When the more anticipated Lord of the Rings project is an anime, you know we've moved into a different era. I'm all for Conan anime at this point if it'll get something onscreen. A conan anime in the same spirit of "The Nightmare of the Wolf" would be a blast.

In this live chat, Andre Einherjar (an entertainment journalist that knows Fredrik Malmberg pretty well) says that the Conan show is alive and well, and he seems pretty confident that it will be greenlighted before the end of the year.

Min. 54:30 Yes earlier in the thread Bulbous mentioned that Fredrik said at Howard Days that he expects a decision from them within 6 months. Let's hope the decision is the right way.

Thanks Enriqued.
Sounds like they stood their ground. Hopefully, we get some good news in the next few months.

If Andre’s hopeful, that’s certainly better news.

The video should start when Andre starts talking about the series below: Thanks for the timestamp "hun", its really curious that Andrei mentions that Malmberg had less power when "Conan Propierties" was indie and now that its part of Funcom they could make more and beter, also hearing that they have one really passionate guy handling the production and protecting it is really cool, hoping for that greenlight.

If it does get the greenlight, it'll have to be a BIG commitment for them at this point. Then again, they seem to be ok with frittering away money on other things (Google it based on some news that came out today)

Netflix might as well go under. I mean if they ever ended up making a Conan series it would most likely be shit house anyway to use an Aussie term.

If Netflix creates a membership with adds they should not charge at all, Crunchyroll has been doing for a long time.

Netflix has had some good series and movies, but IMO the bulk of their original content is garbage, and their back library is weak. I actually find a lot of great movies and shows on Tubi (which is free).
