McIntyre would be an excellent choice. His build is great for the role, he's agile and quick, and because of his background, I think he'd enjoy the role. Admittedly, his face isn't exactly "perfect" for our grim Cimmerian, but that's nothing the makeup department can't fix. Overall, I would applaud this choice for the series.
The question is again where the story starts - if the goal is Conan's origin and the early days immediately after leaving Cimmeria, as Amazon planned to do at one time, it is unlikely that we will see it in action.

The 6 ft 5 Drew McIntyre looks like he would make a no nonsense Conan, plus the Gaelic connection. Yeah, I can see it working. I mean, look at the grim visage. This guy really looks like he wants to kill the shit out of his enemies.

But, can he . . . act?

Yeah, I think his acting ability could be a concern. As mentioned above his face don't look quite right to be the Cimmerian and they will probably start the series with a younger Conan.
Let's hope we get a green light from Netflix soon.

Professional wrestlers act multiple days a week. His acting ability wouldn't be a concern.
Heck, if he signed on, maybe WWE pictures would help fund a project.

I watch mere seconds of wrestling on TV — awoken after falling asleep to a different program, flipping through the channels, or what have you — and am always appalled by how silly it is. I've never seen good acting? I used to really like wrestling. But, around 12 or 13 years old I found out it was fake and never like it again; I tried. In hindsight, it was really dumb to think someone could actually survive a pile driver. I wish I could go back to my "actor-quality bubble." A friend, who is a massive movie buff/fan, pointed bad acting out to me and movie watching has changed forever.

WWE is all a show, so in a way he has already cut his acting teeth doing that stuff. I watched it years ago on a semi regular basis for a spell, but looked too fake, the blows, would rarther just watch a movie, or boxing.
Me, I think they should have an older Conan, set later in Conan's career, enough of the origin takes. Would like to see something revolving around Conan's mercenary years in the Pictish wilderness before he became King.

Here's a promo Drew cut on Roman Reigns last Friday night. Roman Reigns is member of the Anoa'i wrestling family (being a "cousin" of the Rock) and Drew makes him look like a little dude. He's not bad on the microphone. Me, I think they should have an older Conan, set later in Conan's career, enough of the origin takes. Would like to see something revolving around Conan's mercenary years in the Pictish wilderness before he became King. Yeah, there's no need to do an origin story or anything like that. The Pictish wilderness might be a no-go given the current political climate, though. It's a shame because that would be the easiest to shoot from a production standpoint.

I wouldn't mind an origin story, but the way it was done in Spartacus - the first episode shows everything we need to know about his motivations, what happened to him and his first steps in the arena. Conan.can use that template. If they start from The Frost Giant's Daughter, Conan can reminisce the attack on Venarium through the story, the moment when he broke the neck of a wild bull, the conversation with his grandfather that makes him want to leave Cimmeria, without all of it being strenuous, but rather episodic , effectively, and not to reinvent everything again.

I can almost certainly guarantee that the first season of this show, if it's ever made, will play out like this: half of it will be Conan in the present, with sort-of, kind-of "updated" quasi-adaptations of the original stories interrupted constantly by endless flashbacks to Conan's village. This will give them a "regular cast" and a bunch of standing sets where endless, inexpensive talking-heads scenes of Cimmerian teen drama will play out among a large cast of characters who never appeared in any of REH's tales wasting time to justify their existence. Finally, in the season finale, we'll learn that young Conan . . . left his village to go adventuring.
Alternately, we'll get a totally manufactured backstory for Belit told in parallel so that when they finally meet in Season 2 or 3, the audience will "care". Also, it will take care of the "problem" of having a show focused on a male character.

It's not so different as how the Dark Horse comics played out... Drew McIntyre seems a great choice for Conan. Unfortunately, I'm growing increasingly skeptical of this project. I hope Malmberg proves me wrong. Does anyone knows the numbers for the first episode of "House of the dragon"? Is Netflix taking note of it?

Turning a Conan series into some teeny bopper drama primarily aimed at adolescents, that's one way to kill it. Hollywood really needs to grow up and start making movies and series for real adults as opposed for teen girls that need to have the face of the protaganist look young and handsome to them. To hell with that crap.

I wouldn't mind if the series started off with Conan as a pirate for the entire season, add a little bit of Zarono, Strombanni and Valeria into the mix and it'd be a great first season.
...and a good kick in the ^%^$ for those that think Conan's just some generic muscle-bound barbarian in a fur loin-cloth.

Yea exactly. First impressions are everything. Give people new to the character something that shows he’s not a dumb barbarian, but at the same time is still true to REH.
