Yea exactly. First impressions are everything. Give people new to the character something that shows he’s not a dumb barbarian, but at the same time is still true to REH. Yeah, especially that part.

Yes! In the first episodes they need to show Conan's cunning and intelligent nature. He should speak a few languages (to show he *does* have tongue...).

It's been a while since I've visited this forum, and upon return I see the Conan series is still in production hell...feels hopeless.

Things haven't really moved beyond 'Conan the Barbarian tv series in works at Netflix' or something like that.

At the end of the month it will be this thread's two year anniversary.....
If this was a two year deal, well... the clock usually starts the day the deal was signed..... If it was a two year deal, it's most likely up by now or getting awfully close as the news broke at the end of September 30, 2020 it was probably signed in secret beforehand. Maybe there is a period where Netflix has the option to reup or pass, perhaps that limbo period ends at the end of December given Malberg's comments?
Something might happen soon, either way. Maybe NetFlix will reup, or maybe it will be shopped elsewhere to sit in development HELL?

Yeah, if we don't hear nothing this year that'll probably be the end of it again.

OK, so "House of the Dragon" and the horrid "Rings of Power" are both in their third episode. Is this thing gonna happen or not? Someone should put pressure on Malmberg to say what is really going on. I'm afraid this is another case of "the executive who liked our ideas is no longer with the company."

It’s definitely is a s*** or get off the pot moment. This window is right now, we doing it or not? The audience is there and it’s there for something different than what we’ve already got. Are we going to get them or let them find something else?

It’s been said before, but I really like the idea of a show called Hyboria, that would feature the entire Hyborian Age and cast of characters in the REH tales, expanding on their back stories and weaving plot threads together that culminate some time after Hour Of The Dragon.

If this was a 2 year deal something must happen anytime soon, especially because "Heroic Signatures" is now owned by Funcom which is a game company but also own by Chinise gigant Tencent.

Malmberg responded to someone's post about Rings of Power and what Amazon's Conan may have looked like with:
"To me Conan is much more grounded and doesn’t need at all as much thrown in for VFX. Good cinematography and beautiful locations go far - but I agree with you that the story is central."
I think he's right (besides monster VFX), but, perhaps they do not want simple?!

I bet they will do a movie or a five episode mini series with Arnold to close out his version of Conan. Then we will get an animated series based on REH. Just my thoughts.

It's true, but I think he's also trying to sell someone on how it won't be as expensive as LoTR or GoT to produce and to take a shot at it. It has to be a burr in his ass seeing LotR and GoT (with the team he had originally at Amazon) on streaming services and Red Sonja (a secondary character in the wider Conan mythos) in preproduction and his big gun being stuck in development hell. He has to be getting desperate at this point, but I caution him to wait for the right time. He only has one more shot at this (making Conan into a killer IP) and it has to be a quality product. The Mamoa movie and the post-Truman comic book train wrecks really hurt the property. If the new project isn't awesome Conan will be forever associated with Arnold's breakout role and nothing more, which would be a crying shame. REH deserves better.

Arnold says he is still game and was in a social media post recently-ish playing with his sword.
