I just read that interview... another writer not knowing the difference between the Hyborian Age and Hyperborea... Unless it was an error by the article's writer. Between this and the past issue with the Nemedian Navy, I'll probably pass on this. He probably grew up reading the bastardized De Camp and Carter releases and hasn't read the Del Rey's to get the original REH.I agree. Even with these inconsistences, this will likely be leagues better than Blood of the Serpent. Chuck Dixon wrote some excellent Conan tales in the Savage Sword Magazines. I'm optimistic about this one. It's a shame that the interior illustrations are not done by him though, he's a pretty good artist.

So is it an illustrated novel like Conan and The Sorcerer? Yeah, but unfortunately without the great art of Esteban Maroto.

This is the type of art that turns me off. Very cartoony and has nothing to do with the adult setting I expect from a Conan comic. Zero chance I am buying such a book. Yeah, very average looking art.

Has anyone gotten this yet? It looks like it is on Amazon. I’m afraid to order it until I know people are actually receiving copies, and this isn’t some fly-by-night operation.

My paperback arrived in the mail today. Warning, there are absolutely zero interior illustrations.

Wow! This is marketed terribly then. First off — it looks like a comic. And the preview shows illustrations!

I dunno, looking at the Arkhaven website I think I prefer the paperback without the terrible interior art.
Nevertheless, I gotta admit the art on the cover makes the book look like a comic.

I read the preview and it was good enough for me frankly. The prose was direct but detailed enough to paint a scene. Just received my copy and I will start reading it after I finish with Eric Brighteyes.

I've read the preview chapters as well as the review posted on here, and I get the impression that I'm going to enjoy this pastiche much more then the reviewer. All of the negatives he wrote about came off as positives for me. There are also a couple of reviews up on Amazon, and they are very positive. I'm excited for this, it'll be a good palate cleanser after Blood of the Serpent, which was utter ass.

We should have a Chuck Dixon interview at Midnight's Edge within the next few days. Hopefully, we can find out a little bit more about his future plans concerning the upcoming Conan short stories.
