In spirit it's more like TNG season 8 twenty years later than Picard season 3. There was probably more genuine nostalgic fanservice in episode 6 than any other, reaching all the way back to the original series. So much better than shallow bait and switch memberberries.
Apparently they had a lower budget this season but Terry Matalas wisely got several of the production staff from the original series on his team and it shows.

I have it from a number of sources now that Paramount are impressed with Terry Matalas' version of Trek as seen in Picard Season 3 and the good response it's been getting. Initial streaming views were low but steadily rose during seasons 1-4 but they really took off from episode 5, plus repeat viewings are high which Paramount also like. This is likely due to a cautious and initially reluctant fandom slowly realising that real Trek is back at long last and well worth watching.
Almost certainly plans seem afoot at Paramount to go ahead with, most likely, Matalas' Star Trek Legacy concept.

Picard s3 ep 7. Bit shakier this week. Lots of exposition made it feel more like a transition to the next episode. Still some good bits in there. I'd heard it's best watched back to back with no 8 but was not willing to wait.

Yeah, this week's episode felt like part one of two. I liked it but it looks like next week will fill in the blanks.

I still thought it was good, just not as good as many of the others. Wish I'd have had the patience to follow advice and waited a week to watch 7 and 8 as a two-parter at one sitting.

WTF make that a three parter. Still a good episode. Loved the Ready Room scene.

Was another stellar episode for Picard season 3 last week. It's doing exceptionally well with both the critics and the fandom and the general audience: Worf - 'That was not my fault.'

Great, NOW they get it right! Yeah, it only took them two seasons to figure out this is what we wanted all along for this series.

Thought the final episode of Picard season 3 was a fabulous ending to an overall stellar season. I'll be around for Legacy if they decide to go ahead with it.

That was a pretty solid finale. A bit slow at times but it got where it needed to go.
Star Trek: Legacy needs to get the green light.

Yeah it did have a 20 minute wrap up coda after the big finale but it was packed with cool character moments I thought.
Last I heard Star Trek Academy recently got the green light and a straight to streaming movie about Section 31 starring Michelle Yeoh is in the pipeline but no confirmation on Legacy.
Paramount want to save money by cutting down on the number of ST series they have running at the same time but they are seriously impressed by the viewing figures and enthusiastic fan reaction to season 3 of Picard under Terry Matalas and may well go ahead with his Legacy after Strange New Worlds finishes.

Binged Picard S3 over the last 24 hours and that was great. Its seriously some of the best Trek ever and is the re-union I always wanted for the TNG cast.
