I never bit the bullet and bought Fire & Blood, but I may now, I hear it is wonderfully illustrated by Doug Wheatley. I did just that after starting this series. I saw it at Costco several times for like $13.99, and finally, a few weeks later, I broke down and got it. Really enjoying it so far!

Episode 4 meeting
Ryan: So what do we do for Episode 4?
Miguel: Do you want to try a night episode?
Ryan: Gee that didn’t work out well last time.
Miguel: Oh that’s right. Maybe we try to add something to it to make sure people will not turn it off. Have any ideas?
Ryan: I think I have an idea…

This was pretty icky, I knew it was coming, but not this soon. I thought they would wait until the new actresses were brought in. Besides the creepy incest angle, seeing Viserys plow the young Alicent while she sat there bored was creepy. Although, that was probably to show the conception of their daughter. It appears they had a second son already last night, right? That would be Viseyrs II I believe. The baby last night didn't look as old as Aegon from last episode. So I think they just need a girl then all the pieces are set. But if this episode doesn't convince someone to film a Fafhrd and Gray Mouser mini series, I don't know what will. Someone has to make use of these sets. That's perfectly suitable for Lankhmar at night.

Another great episode from the HotD team.
Enjoyed your Pulp Crazy overview Jason. If only HBO would take you up on your F+GM in Lankhmar idea, while there's still time.
A more sinister and cutthroat version might also make for a decent Zamoran Maul --

Thanks for the video Jason.
It'll feel weird with the change of cast for the time jump next week, overall I kinda enjoyed this episode and the series so far.

Kind of a weak episode this week.... And you think things got bad when Bette Davis wore red in Jezebel...

Kind of a weak episode this week.... It did leave more ambiguous moments for the viewer to speculate upon than usual esp what initially triggered the disturbance at the wedding. Sadly, apart from potential flashbacks, this is the last we will get to see of Viserys, who is imho the best character and actor of this phase of the narrative, the best of an excellent line up. Maybe they will return to some of those and perhaps fill in some blanks. [/spoiler]

I thought this was good. Until the last act I thought it was gonna be a bummer, but it really picked up, and even left a bit of a cliff hanger.

Almost felt like a new season... A lot of the pieces are on the board, but a few more people need to be born, and a few more people need to die before the fireworks start to happen....

Without spoiling anything, does the book make time jumps like the show?

Without spoiling anything, does the book make time jumps like the show? The book(s): The World of Ice and Fire, and Fire & Blood are not novels, but read as in universe history books. So, yes.

Without spoiling anything, does the book make time jumps like the show? The book(s): The World of Ice and Fire, and Fire & Blood are not novels, but read as in universe history books. So, yes. Enjoyed your Pulp Crazy review Jason. Now I know why they seem to be rushing ahead to some degree. I could have done with the whole first season featuring the younger actresses, since they were so good in the roles, but the transition was smoother than I thought it would be and the new actresses are also great in their respective roles. This almost seems like the pilot for a whole new season. Was glad to see King Viserys again. There was some speculation on the internet about whether Otto had been poisoning him, or the Maesters. Does the book mention, confirm or deny this or leave it open to speculation? [\spoiler]
