HBO Max have just put episode 1 online at their youtube channel: Smart move. I wonder how much money they would net if they did this the next day every week with ads on YouTube? I'm sure that would cut down on the piracy. Streaming services with ads really cut down on anime piracy. HBO should try it.

I watched the first two episodes. It was fine.
Then I read that there are like 6 or 7 other spin-offs in development?!
I’m done. The universe just isn’t that exciting. I’d rather spend my time reading.

I wouldn’t expect half of those spin offs to come to fruition. They are developing that many as pitches, series bibles, or pilot scripts and having the ideas compete against each other to see which is best. The Jon Snow series is the only other one that I heard has actually been green lighted.

I wonder if the Naomi Watts pilot will ever leak out. We’ve never seen the original GoT pilot that everyone hated so bad.

I liked this better than episode 2 and it was right up there with episode 1. Some nice action scenes and court intrigue.
It's going to get crazy in an episode or two.

Watching the battle with Daemon at the end all I could think was...these guys were an "OK let's do it" away from making Conan the Barbarian. Thanks again, Jenn.

They'd be great for an Elric adaptation too - but only with the team they have assembled for HBO's GoT. I have much less faith that they could have done it with Amazon's own studio unless they could've called the shots and got the right people involved.

Last night’s episode was tremendously good. My last dog was a pug, so I really enjoyed that there was a pug in the episode and that it grabbed a bite full to eat. The royalty of Denmark, house orange, were known for having pugs so it fit right in, seeing as the show is somewhat based off of European tradition. My only complaint would be not seeing part of the battle near the end….

Thanks, guys. I'm pleasantly surprised by this series. Johnny did an interesting videocast on his Valleys of Numenor channel showing the small amount of material the Rings of Power crew have to work with to create their series. Compare that with what GRRM has written about the Targaryens and I think the Hour of the Dragon folks easily have a more robust selection to work with.
I never bit the bullet and bought Fire & Blood, but I may now, I hear it is wonderfully illustrated by Doug Wheatley. But I also don't want to be spoiled. I can only recall a few events from The World of Ice and Fire, and don't want to be spoiled by anything more than my brain can remember at the moment.
Oh and they would be crazy not to release the Naomi Watts pilot as a movie or special event... unless they don't want to be married to the content/canon it establishes down the road... After all, the Game of Thrones license is going to outlive ALL of us.

They seem to be firing on all cylinders at present. I'd give episodes 1, 2 and 3 a 7, 7.5 and 8 out of ten consecutively. Great production values, scenery, sets, costumes, weapons, armour (for the most part), dialogue, acting, writing, direction. Some great subtext and characterisation too. The cgi is also very good and not overused. Some interesting emotive and thematic (and possibly prophetic) use of symbolism as well.
The jumps in the timeline between episodes are also economically handled.
I'd like to say more but don't want to drop any spoilers.
Almost forgot to add - nice attention to medieval detail.
