SPOILERS...obviously.
What a finale! What did you guys find to be the most shocking moment of the episode? I think for me it was Tommen stepping out the window. I wasn't expecting that!
I also wasn't expecting Margaery to be trapped with the others as the entire place went sky high. Damn...I was hoping she'd get out, as I feel like she had much more left to her story.

Trying to think like the writers here. When she was a teenager, the witch prophesied that Cersei would have children but she would see them all die, so it couldn't have come as a surprise. Now she's free to take the Iron Throne for herself. Margaery would have stood in the way, and killing her gave Olenna Tyrell the motive to go to Dorne and form a Martell-Dorne alliance. By the way, wasn't Olenna's putdown of the Sand Snakes a hoot?

SPOILERS for the Season Finale! Bran be tapping into Weirwood.net! Yep, turns out L + R = J was true all along It's like the theory of gravity I guess. One awesome thing, though....Jon isn't his real name! They cut away Lyanna telling Ned, but I think we can figure out what it is, or close to it. Rhaegar said the Dragon must have three heads.... He named his two kids with Elia Martell after his ancestors, Aegon the Conqueror and Aegon's sister and wife, Rhaenys. Aegon the Conqueror's other wife and sister was Visenya. So I'm thinking Jon's name is something beginning with Vis... I was thinking Viserion, but that's one of Daeny's dragons. Or who knows, maybe Lyanna named him after a Stark. So that's what the prophecy means by the Red Star burning too.... Cersei just wiped out everyone opposing her in a brilliant fashion. I saw Tommen an heroing out the window coming as soon as they kept going back to that perspective. Plus as jmroberts said, the wood witch's prophecy about Cersei. Now Daeny just needs to replace her. The North, though, damn. The White Wolf! How cool is that shit? Something tells me King Snow is going to have a bur in his ass by the name of Littlefinger. He wants the Iron Throne and he wants Sansa. Loved seeing Arya come back and deal with Frey! Who knows, maybe she'll get Cersei next season. Nice seeing Sam travel to Olde Town, but didn't really serve much of a purpose. Glad to see Daeny get on the damn ships and leave Daario behind. Between her fleet attacking from the East and the Tyrell/Dorne Alliance coming from the South, Cersei is done. Then Daeny and Jon can meet and their Targaryen blood will basically force them to bone each other and take on the Others. But that bastard Littlefinger may have other plans. I think the table has been set. Now how the fuck does one wait 6 months between seasons?! George, get another book out, stat!

There was a lot of "FINALLY!" in this episode. There's still a whole bunch of pieces in play to come together, the question is in what order? Dany's heading for King's Landing and will get there...but when and who will still be with her? Does Littlefinger already know what we "found out" last night? One would hope Sam will learn something at the Citadel that would make him indispensable in the end (hey, we finally started getting the pay off to Arya's story last night!)
I was a little surprised Cersei "only" took out what she did. Her children are now all gone, she's got power so she's shut herself off from all feelings. Is Jamie safe?

Yeah, White Wolf is definitely a cool title. Sansa will need to really look out for her brother with Littlefinger's scheming, though. I was a little surprised Cersei "only" took out what she did. Her children are now all gone, she's got power so she's shut herself off from all feelings. Is Jamie safe? And is she safe from Jaime? He didn't look too pleased with that happened. On the list of people who will kill her, as discussed by fans over at IMDB, the top three are Tyrion, Arya and Jaime.

Much has been made of "Gee, she doesn't look too happy as he's getting all those cheers." Thrown in (said in best Littlefinger voice) "He's got Stark blood but he's not A Stark..."

This is all easily solved once Bran reveals Jon is really ______ Targaryen. He can just marry his cousin (Sansa) and aunt (Daeny) and it's all good, he's the second coming of Aegon the Conqueror. Just need to watch out for Littlefinger. That prick needs to pay for what he did to the continent and Ned.

He certainly does need to pay! It'll be a pleasure to watch him finally do that...whenever that is. Yeah, White Wolf is definitely a cool title. I don't know, but I hope not. I like to think they're steering him more towards the book version of Jaime where he feels that he's pretty much done with her and he's had enough. She is partly responsible for the death of their last child, after all, so I can't imagine he's very pleased. And speaking of that: Why the hell didn't she have someone watching Tommen? Cersei obviously knew that Margaery's death would be very upsetting to him.

From: awoiaf.westeros.org/index.php/Jon_SnowI guess bastards aren't allowed to use their house's coat of arms and have to invert them... very clever GRRM, very clever. Jon's going to be the White Wolf indeed. Wasn't a similar sigil on display during the opening cinematic? It took the place of the Flayed Man at Winterfell.

Rewatching the finale and the Ned and Lyanna scene in particular... it looks like Lyanna mouths something that starts with an "A" to Ned. I'm thinking Jon's name might be Aerion Targaryen now, ala Aerion Brightflame from Dunk and Egg tales.
I'm very surprised Martin hasn't posted about the season on his Not a Blog. I can kind of see him wanting to avoid the elephant(s) in the room, though.
Still, it would be nice to get an update on the book. I still want to see what he has in store even though we got some major revelations. He's playing with more pieces, that's for sure.

January? He made a huge statement back then, but I can't recall one since. He's said some things regarding the show since then (such as the three big reveals he told D & D), but little else. Aerion Targaryen would definitely be more fitting than Jon Targaryen.

Tonight, Winter is here. Who's pumped? I'm hoping for another fantastic season to follow up last year.
Also, rumor has it GRRM has finished the novel and it's going to be announced during the premiere with an October 18, 2017 release date.
