This is from Tom: "This [the Dark Horse collection of Tom's Tarzan comics] should have been out 9 months ago....perhaps around X-mas but for the life of me Dark Horse seems to either not care or is just plain not interested in printing my book. I am virtually unemployed and selling all my art off just keep afloat. I suggest we write letters directed to them and to ERB Inc.! How say you? I am not trying to whine here...I just need a job!" Yeah, I noticed a lot of Tom's artwork for sale on his facebook (I can only access Tom Grindberg's new art through REH comics group) page. Hopefully, DH will at least give us a release date for the Tarzan collection and the new Conan series with Roy Thomas.

Thanks for the reply, hun. Looking at those covers, I guess I'm a fool for B&W because when color is added, it doesn't look quite as good to me. I'm sure his stuff will sing regardless but I almost wish DH would release a B&W conan run. Yeah, the coloring on both of those covers are a little disappointing. It would be great if DH could release a Black & White magazine, SSOC style - it certainly would add a pulpy feel. But it looks like, these days we'll just have to tolerate the mediocre art enhanced with digital coloring on glossy paper. I would eat up a SSoC type magazine. The old B&W comic mags were my favorite. They'd probably want twelve dollars apiece for them nowadays.

But, I can not think of an artist, especially these days that can produce a 40-50 page comic a month, or every other month - these days you cannot even read a story arc with the same penciller. Tom Grindberg maybe?

Anthology mags would be the way to go.
Ideally they would recruit some badass artists : Grindberg, Walt Simonson, Michael Golden, Steve Epting....
I'd like to see Tom Scioli draw some Conan, but that might not appeal to all.
There's an Italian artist, who's name escapes me, who's art looks just like John Buscema. that guy would be good.

Tom had this to say about the graphic novel of his and Roy Thomas' Tarzan that should've been out awhile back from DHC: This needs to be printed!!! I need to find a better publisher...one that will take me and Roy more seriously! They are about unprofessional as they come! If anyone is going to San Diego this weekend I would encourage them to ask questions and see what Dark Horse says!
-- Tom GrindbergThe stories were done long ago. This is entirely on Dark Horse.

Doesn't sound promising for that Thomas-Grindberg Conan project at DH, does it?

Tom had this to say on social media: Another design that I created and was never paid a dime for! Not only did I get screwed out of thousands of dollars for my creation of this character but I also never recieved but three coins for all my efforts....NO ROYALTIES AND NO MONEY!!!! Bad enough I am getting screwed by Dark Horse comics for over one year now. NO TARZAN BOOK AND NO CONAN COMIC BOOK AND NOW THIS!!!! I am sorry folks but how in the hell am I supposed to feed my family? This guy who stole my creations, slapped them on coins and statues then made off with the money! He mints the coins here in the states while he lives in Thailand! Go figure! The criminal in question is SilverStatues.com. Apparently, the same guy has ripped off Frazetta and others.

This is really messed up. And at this point, how does he afford a lawyer to go after them if he's not getting paid?

Some good news, for a change... "I got a cover gig today from ERB Inc. TARZAN! Oil painted dust jacket!"
-- Tom GrindbergIMO, ERB Inc. should just use Tom as their house artist for various projects. He can do anything in the Burroughs canon and do it great.
