This issue of Amazing Heroes (#100) was instrumental in my formative years of Kirby fandom, essentially turning me onto Kirby. I knew some of his Marvel stuff and his role in creating the Marvel Universe, but it was my first real delve into the realm of Kirby and led me to seek out The Fourth World stuff (back when it was still available cheap). It essentially ingrained an appreciation of Kirby into me as a snot nosed high school kid and recovering Marvel Zombie. It was also my first look at how poorly the industry treated its giants with the Kirby original art scandal that was raging at the time. -M

I know it’s not all on one title, but on the whole that's still a pretty sweet haul. Wonder how Dark Horse would do if they ran some Barry Windsor Smith and Roy Thomas Conan classic originals as a single issue reprint series? That is pretty badass.

AMC is airing this Sunday the start of a new documentary series on comics history and the first episode (which is already available on its website) is about Marvel. Gets a bit into the Lee vs. Kirby and Ditko feuds, but is mostly pro-Stan in the end (Kirby being long dead and Ditko refusing to speak, of course).

The whole series so far is very interesting - lots of things I never knew about these guys. www.amc.com/shows/robert-kirkmans-secret-history-of-comics
