Today's Robert E. Howard's birthday. 112!
In honor of him this day I'm wearing a barbarian invoking Frazetta shirt and shall be sampling all day from the historical adventures in the Del Rey edition of "Sword Woman". And I'll drink one tonight for him.

Today's Robert E. Howard's birthday. 122nd I believe. In honor of him this day I'm wearing a barbarian invoking Frazetta shirt and shall be sampling all day from the historical adventures in the Del Rey edition of "Sword Woman". And I'll drink one tonight for him. Right on!

REH didn't mention his birthday that often in his letters. Here's one of the rare instances:
"My own library was generally the largest in the place I lived, but it was small. I generally was given a book on Christmas and on my birthday."
-- Robert E. Howard to H. P. Lovecraft, July 1933

All I can say is that REH's works are the most passionate I've come across, completely drenched in atmosphere, writing, and characters. I am still waiting for my Bran Mak Morn collection. Fuckin Amazon. Oh and there is a Kull kickstarter thread on the Cimmerian sub-reddit. It is about re-printing the 3 public domain Kull stories with interior illustration. You guys can check it out if u want. I will create a thread in the Kull section but I am feeling sleepy now.
Nighty Night.

Drinking to his shade with orange juice, as is my custom.
Mead is hard to come by, you know.

I don't need an excuse to have my glass of wine, but tonight I have a great one.

Last night I raised a glass to the shade of REH, and enjoyed again one of my favorite tales; People of the Dark. I just love this tale, and Conan of the Reavers is my favorite one-off characters. Wish there were a few more of his adventures written...

Robert the Replacer As Nietzsche once spake that God is now dead His Dark laughed to the ever-burn of fire But one took them both and from his own head Played the songs of either with pulpy Lyre For ordered chaos is the call to arms Be they words or weapons in human hands So that rife will eats at chains of harms As all flame smoulders against icy bands And when Fate marches a black colossus The cosmos assay a fatum of nature And thus do they judge one's regal promise Be they writer or warrior by nurture Thence does the abysmal titan fall At the smite of smaller gods' might Vim and virile the memory mauls Of Howard, who becameāa King of the Night!
