Is there a way to order the variant cover (with the original artwork) from Amazon? I don't think so. No they would have only gone out to the Direct Market i.e. comic book stores or online stores. You might get it from an Amazon 3rd party seller but you'd have to make sure it was a DM copy.

Sonja SSoC stuff is being reprinted in The Further Adventures of Red Sonja Vol. 1, published by Dynamite. Just came out November 20. Big drawback-Cory not involved. But it's finally out there. After however many years it took to get this out, I finally picked this up and...to quote Janice from Friends: "OH.....MY.....GAWD!!!" Who did the colors on this thing?!? I've wanted color versions of some of these stories for years, but not like this! Why do the computer color artists love brown so much? This was a problem with a lot of the recolored stories in DH's Savage Sword book. Could we possibly try going back to basing things on the four color palette from days of yore and work from there? There's a few things I'd actually liked to see colored: Scarlet Citadel, the rest of Hour of the Dragon, Citadel at the End of Time. But not like this.

I got the images from the REH facebook page, Yeah, they're originally from the posts by Deejay on the MarvelMasterworks forum, I think. Deejay has a point about the dimensions, they shoulda added the extra width and got rid of those awful strips at the top and bottom of the page with the issue numbers, date of publication and page numbers. The reproduction looks good, it's a little too bright on the glossy paper, in my opinion - I prefer the artwork in the original magazines. Nevertheless, I should add that the first Conan Omnibus managed to sell around 2,500 direct market copies with re-orders. Not even the Guardians, Venom, Avengers, Infinity or Mutant Omnibus titles managed to sell as well in the direct market in the last year, so Marvel seem to be doing something right.

Some more scans of SSOC 4: Looking at the pirates from the Iron Shadows adaptation there's an awful lot of detail missing. If you look at the pirate in the bottom left hand corner and then look towards the ship you can see what I'm talking about.

It looks like they played around with the contrast/brightness to bring out some of the line-work, and lost some in the process...and selected the white/empty space connected to the guttering between the panels with the ol' bucket/lasso to clean it up a bit.
If I remember correctly even the DH phonebook editions did a better job with the early artwork inked by Alfredo Alcala.
