I just did a search for Conan on Sergio Davila's blog The conan art is from 2011 I think there's potential here, but who knows what art direction DH will take or how Sergio Davila's interpretation of Conan has changed over the years? here's the link sergioodison.blogspot.co.uk/search?q=conan

For the build of Conan alone, it's an improvement over Ching.

I remember that art, if i'm correct DH posted a series of try-out's by different artists prior to the launch of one of the Conan titles. it's the giant monkey that did it.

Very nice! That art is a vast improvement, I think.

Those pencils fit the bill for sure. They remind me of the early test pages artists did too - there was always a gorilla and a girl in distress. cdn.comicartfans.com/Images/Category_1612/subcat_83601/cary%20nord.jpg I'm glad they went with just pencils too at the time. I thought coloring the pencils set the series apart from other books. The mainstream aspects of the more recent Conan titles put me off. I always hesitate to criticize it openly, but I don't think I'm the only one here who would prefer something more like the original concept. I also love that Schultz is doing variant covers. His wrap around cover on Colossal Conan is one reason I shelled out cash for that massive book. Anyone else grab that edition?

I figured I already have then in floppies and the first half dozen HB's. you just got to draw a line somewhere, even though I love his art.

I think that if anything Fred should have adapted Pool of the Black One, or some minor story. Black Circle should have been left for Slayer.
Here's a thought. Have Fred do a miniseries with a better artist.

Have Fred do a miniseries with a better artist. I think it's time to move on and focus on Slayer and then whatever Giorello and Truman are doing. If you put out too many Conan books, especially in the current market, the brand gets watered down. The People of the Black Circle mini was a welcome escape from Wood's garbage, but now that it looks like we're getting a properly art directed Conan title, I think it's best to showcase that. Fred did a great job despite having Ching on art.

Here is a freebie of the first issue of The Sixth Gun.(The hyperlink isn't visible at least from my end, but you should be able to click on "The Sixth Gun.") Not that I wish to be a nay-sayer, but Mr Bunn quit DC's Aquaman as his writing/portrayal of the character was poorly received by fans of the title. I have these issues in my to read pile, so I cannot offer my opinion on them, but I have read Harrow C and that's good. That's a fair concern. I've not read any of his superhero work. I was and still am a fan of Brian Wood's work on Northlanders and Rebels. Perhaps existing characters are more difficult for some writers than their own original work.

Except Harrow County is closer to Conan then northlanders. Bunn can do horror stories so I think in this case it will be up his alley

I'd also like to know how long he is signed up for, either way i'm looking forward to it.

I'd agree, Fred did a good job and we should just bury the corpse and move forward, we all know that the bulk of the arc was a mistake, it's happened and I don't see any point in further dissecting something that's best forgotten imo.
