So I just heard this on a podcast and... since I haven't seen these details elsewhere on the board, I'm going to label it *BREAKING NEWS*
Rogues in the House Podcast, July 11, 2022 – “Two Matts are better than one!”
Relevant part starts at 56:00 minutes in, but the whole podcast is worthwhile; it's one I recommend fans here subscribe to.
They interview Matt Murray, editor at Heroic Signature. Someone makes a comment about the "real" Savage Sword of Conan, and Murray responds:
“What does that mean, the “real” Savage Sword of Conan?
"You’re talking about something magazine sized, black & white and half toned, really awesome deep shadows, some adult content where Conan the barbarian, you can allude to the blood and the sex, this lets you reeeeeallly dig into it and has short-form fiction which is really the best way Conan works.
"And it comes out quarterly maybe, and it’ll probably cost $7-$10 an issue, b/c you can’t sit there and constantly hit someone up every month for $10. But if it comes out every three months, b&w, magazine sized, 44-66 pages so you get a good 4-5 stories, told by people who can dig into this stuff.
"You know I happen to like people like Gerardo Zaffino, and Roberto De La Torre and there’s some amazing storytellers, modern storytellers who can get into that aesthetic from 1973, 1974, when SSOC first came out, and if something where to come out around the anniversary, the 50th anniversary of SSOC, where someone were to say hey, man, let’s give this another shot, let's go back to the roots. I would love to see something like that.”
I suppose TECHNICALLY they could say "oh, just wishcasting" but I definitely interpreted as "hey this would be cool, yes?" *WINK *WINK *NUDGE *NUDGE *IT'S ALREADY IN THE PIPELINE
So, seems to predict: length, format, price and publication interval.
