My thoughts on tonight's episode, the civil war is on.
Also, a teaser at the end that is pulp related...

Even in my old Italian family we spaced out the Pauls a bit so you wouldn’t get something like this.

Great overview on the latest episode Jason and thanks for the pulp info. This was another stellar episode and best of season 1 so far I thought. Paddy Considine stealing the show again as King Viserys right up to the end

Paddy Considine stealing the show again as King Viserys right up to the end This is the one area where House is heads above Rings of Power, they just have better actors across the board who are able to up their game like this. Hmmm.....could we be getting a Westeros version of Mutt & Jeff? Hmmm....the downside of not having read the book, but then again with Martin, you could read something and it's buried in there among everything else you could completely miss it.

When asked, "Who do you want to win?", can we answer "None of the above"? And to think this family will give us the light hearted Dunk and Egg stories in about 100 years.

Appreciate the xtra lore context in your vids Jason. Another great episode. The HotD team seem to be firing on all cylinders at present. I agree that the dragon scene at the end was probably a little ott yet still cool. They could have accomplished the same objective a little more credibly perhaps?
Did Viserys mention the Aegon prophesy to Alicent in the book or is that something added by the show? [\spoiler]

When asked, "Who do you want to win?", can we answer "None of the above"? Seriously, that's a tough question at this point, as nobody's innocent. There are no Jon Show or Tyrion Lannister types to root for either. I'm really liking Rhaenys right now, though - She's smart and has proven her strength.

No, in Fire & Blood he tells Haelena's three children a bedtime story, then dies in his sleep. A servant discovers him and goes straight to the Queen, as arranged. She gets Criston Cole, they seal off the room and then wake up the small counci.
One source the maester who wrote Fire & Blood refers to is a dwarf jester named Mushroom, his accounts of major events are more salacious. He's not in the show. He stated the Queen poisoned the king that night but Mushroom wasn't even in King's Landing that night, he was on Dragonstone with Daemon and Rhaenyra.
Also, Viserys is not nearlyas ill as he is in the show. He's overweight, gets winded easily, and has gout pretty bad, but he is not a leper.

Unfortunately this is one of those cases where the people who will make it to the last episode you can probably count on one hand. Same thing with Rings of Power, just about everyone you didn't already see in another movie won't make it until the end of the series.

Seems to be the lesser of the morally compromised.

When asked, "Who do you want to win?", can we answer "None of the above"? And to think this family will give us the light hearted Dunk and Egg stories in about 100 years. If one must choose I'm leaning towards team black - Daemon and Rhaenyra. Though flawed they seem the most human and genuine. Daemon has matured since his younger days and we the audience know Rhaenyra is still the actual chosen heir of King Viserys in spite of the mistaken interpretation of Viserys' last words to her by Alicent and the darkling schemes of the Green Council.
The Green Council are all too ruthlessly medieval in their politics and Rhaenys seemed all too willing to engage in the casual manslaughter of several dozen commoners in her attempt to make a statement. She seems too driven by bitterness, perhaps understandably so. In spite of her age she seems not to have matured in character as Daemon seems to have. They are both two potential heirs that were passed over for another, one a woman passed over for a man and the other a man passed over for a woman. But of the two Daemon seems to have handled it better.
Still, it makes for interesting drama and I'm looking forward to see what will unfold. The civil war lasts 3 years I have heard so if Jason is right about what GRRM said and there will be four seasons then one season per civil war year would seem about right.
Just my 2c according to my perceptions of the characters as presented by the show up to this point as I've not read the book. [\spoiler]
