Especially 8! That was like 2 seasons crammed into a half season. I love the Ryan George Pitch Meeting for Season 8 Producer: We'll give you as many episodes as you want. Writer: NO!!! lol! No doubt. I have a little more faith in House of the Dragon, so I hope we're not disappointed. I'm hoping the show goes all the way up to the point where Fire & Blood ended, which was basically the end of the period of time known as The Dance of the Dragons and the beginning of a new era.

They already know the endpoint and have said how long they’ll take to get there, so things shouldn’t get out of control.

Did they say the endpoint is the same as where the book ended or sooner? The finale of last night's episode: WOW!! What an intense dragon battle. I mostly knew what was going to happen, having read the story, but seeing it on the screen was incredible. Also... Aemond betraying Aegon like that is an interesting twist that differs from the novel. If I remember right, it was Meleys, Rhaenys' dragon, who burned Aegon. I assume Aegon still lives (killing him this early would be stupid), so it'll be fun to see the interaction between the brothers going forward.

I’d assume where ever the book leaves off after the war (haven’t read it so not sure exactly where it ends). They said four years so I’m guessing they k ow they have enough for that many episodes without having to start heavily padding or extrapolating.

Superb dragon cgi, really get a sense of their size and weight.
I think you're right about King Aegon being alive. Looked like Prince Aemond was about to run him through when Cole turned up.

After the war, yes. I'm assuming it'll leave off when the new heir takes the throne or is about to do so...without spoiling anything heh. I missed that. If they killed Aegon now, it would be a LOT earlier than in the books. And yeah, I too think Aemond was about to finish him off. In the book, Aegon was actually part of the plan and worked with Aemond to take down Rhaenys. He was badly burned and maimed, but still lived. So I'm assuming he's still alive on the show too.

That was a great episode. Know a few people who have not read the source material and they were quite surprised.
Given Fire & Blood was compiled from multiple accounts, the TV show writers have some wiggle room.

Sure was some magnificent dragon on dragon action. Meleys managed to wound Vagar somewhat but seemed to be having difficulty getting through the tough hide whereas she had no trouble wounding the King's dragon. I suspect that even if Rhaenys had accepted Daemons' offer of ganging up on Vagar they'd not have succeeded. Age, size and battle experience seem to go hand in hand in the dragon pecking order it seems.

Great episode, and some of the best dragon depictions I have seen.

Looking forward to see how the show depicts the different Dragonseeds. We've met three already by my count.
I imagine we are going to see some pretty gruesome tests for some "red shirts."

Ep 5 was a slow burn transition, with some interesting drama smouldering under the surface, dealing mostly with the fallout from 4 and hinting at future threads. I'm wondering if the witch at Harrenhall is ensorcelling Daemon to conceive a dragonseed of her own? More than just weirwood strangeness going on there it seems.

Aye, really great casting choices in this show, so many actors who can really carry the subtext with a glance or an expression.
Which sets me hoping Otto Hightower will be back, his actor being one of the best.
